@@brianleonard6025 Exactly, just what I was going to say. I worked in a mansion up state N. Y. that had 4 floors, it was. I stayed in the servants quarters on the 4th even though the old man and woman lived on the 2nd floor and there were 4 other bedroom. Would have been easier if they allowed me to stay on their floor. People who have money don't care about us or our feelings, I will tell you.

The clothes rack that you like so much is called a Clothes Butler or a Valet Stand. There are separate parts to fold your pants over and to hang your shirts and jackets so they don't get wrinkled. Then there's a tray at the top to put your wallet and whatever else is in your pockets on. Edit: Forgot to say there are usually wooden rods at the very bottom to place your shoes on

How elegant, this home is!!! Sooo beautiful & pristine! Very sad that no one has taken this home, restored it & loves it once again 😞 The house is in remarkably good shape for being abandoned as long as it has! I especially appreciated the gorgeous staircase, wall tiles in the bathrooms, wooden floors, stained glass windows & exterior architecture of this property! The items themselves are priceless! All of the antique, wooden furniture is fantastic! I don’t know if it’s the high inheritance tax that is keeping families away from keeping these cherished items or what the cause is, but my hope is that for someone to benefit & love these items once again! If this place could be purchased & restored, that would be a the best outcome!!! Thank you Leslie for sharing this epic property with us! I loved it ❤️

I would guess they referred to this room as the “Music Room” and it’s magnificent to see that gorgeous piano and all of the sheet music right beside. To be honest, I expected to see much more lavish furnishings in this place. It seems rather plain based on the outside. I do remain stunned that so much of their house items are still there. The dishes, small tables, artwork…here in wonderful America, all of that would’ve been stripped and stolen, all the while in the taggers would’ve covered beautiful wall with gang signs, artists’ rendering of the male genitalia and names of assorted females, who they have lain with and what all they’ll do! “True memories of the ancient times?!” Leslie, Leslie, Leslie, you make me feel like I’m barely able to make it through a day with my impending dotage!hahahahaha!!” You are so sweet, young man. Another reason to love you! Your ease of talking to your camera rather than a bunch of unknown people all around the world is a talent that you were born with! I don’t know where your life plans will take you, but I do know whatever it is, you will be wildly successful. You’re a diamond in the rough - all of your “sparkles” are hidden, waiting to be polished and revealed. God bless and be well. Stay safe whilst seeing these places!

This house, per the drone view, has a rail track immediately behind the property which would have kept property values down. I'm supposing this was an unpretentiously middle class residence in an ordinary area - roomy but not lavish.

Common to find a kitchen in the basement in the 1800's the owners did not like to smell the food only to taste it, so preparation was in the basement and carried up by a dumb waiter to the dining room saving time for the servants to serve the food in the dining area. 42:33 ... Victorian bookcase - the cabinet door opens up and slides back so you can choose a book to read.

In France, the main floor was the reception one (family and guests), the house staff worked in the basement and some of them were accomodated in bedrooms under the roof) - it was very socialized. It was the same for Haussmann buildings ("chambre de bonne" : housekeeper bedrooms) but kitchen is in the appartment on the other side of the main entry (owners had their own entry, the "beautiful" one with a big staircase (little staircase for the staff behind the kitchen) - the opposite of reception rooms, often at the end of a long corridor.

Please please please put down the keyboard covers on the pianos you find , it protects them. Even if the top is open on a grand piano they are very easy to gently lay down. It protects them and almost every one that I have seen is completely fixable even if it isn’t playable.

Also the pianos you have been finding so far are called upright pianos. A grand piano is what you see on a concert stage. About 5 foot in length is a baby grand and a 6 to 9 foot in length is called a grand piano. 😊 The 9ne 8n this video is a true grand piano.

The "food elevator" is really called a "silent butler"or "dumb waiter", I believe. What an interesting place. It's so put together for having been abandoned. It's a shame they cannot rescue the beautiful furniture and auction it or donate it to someone. It's too pretty to leave behind to rot. It's fun to see how people lived in their homes. Thanks for the video and the fun!

A slient butler is a different thing entirely. The 'food elevator' is indeed a dumb waiter. A silent butler is usually a metal pan with a wood handle and metal lid used to discretely clear crumbs from the table.

Hi Leslie, what a classy French mansion, loved the Madames bedroom, very French Vintage. Especially the Wallpaper. Looking around the home, hints gave me the Madame travelled to Africa. The Dark wooden gazelle. Very African. Plus the Madames Jewellery box, With the Elephant Ingraveing on the lid, in dark wood. Plus In the kitchen, inside the kitchen cupboards was a box of Mazina. It's used as a thickner, it's a white powder. You use it to thicken soup or stews to make the sause thick. Perhaps the Couple ventured to Africa. Mazina is very popular today in Africa, especially South Africa. I have fallen in love with a timeless piece. Plus what a gorgeous Piano. Thankyou Leslie, with such great talent. No dust- even in same room Looks possibly staged with found items. The lack of heavy dust is strange. Food elevator = dumb waiter Common in homes with basement kitchens of the time Wing piano = Grand Piano Bedroom- those are prints on either side of bed. Closet= Armoire Claw foot bath If you would have shown purses or fashion- we could have roughly dated the lady occupant Big closet with bed linens = Linen Press

My family comes from the Netherlands. Came to Canada in '57. We had a brush on the wall in a wooden shoe. On Sunday, my mother would brush the shoulders and backs of my fathers and brothers suits before church. How sad the family did not want the beautiful furniture.

Leslie, I would pay attention to the carpets! I'm sure the are Orientals, Persians, Turks, etc. Very beautiful works of art by themselves!

It's odd that the dumb waiter doesn't go to the second floor as most people of that class liked to have coffee or tea sent up to their rooms as soon as they woke up. The brush in the hall is a clothes brush that was used to brush lint or pet hair from clothes. Based on the amount of medicine in the cabinet in the master suite, I would guess the small bed was for a nurse or caretaker.

It was probably not functional when he did this video. If he tugged too hard it could've broken the rope and everything would have crashed down. I just thought the spot was in a strange spot and was kitty cornered.

Was really cool a sink in each room and the fireplaces were so cool of marble. I just started to watch your videos and I just love of what I have viewed. THANK YOU SO MUCH. Bonnie H. Hi Leslie, I am watching the video now and I noticed the rocks in the upstairs... the one I am positive is a meteorite. They can be worth very much also. That's probably why the large light was a hobby maybe. I have a few myself and they are beautiful if seen thru magnifier mine has actual gemstones in it. I found my meteorite on the beach. Anyway enjoy your videos. Thanks for doing this and enjoy your life. Hope this helps.

What is sad is that the beautiful chandelier will one day fall on that gorgeous dining table, breaking the dishes. It is appalling that the antique furniture and dishes haven't been stored properly. I love watching the videos about abandoned places, but it sad that people didn't care enough to either sell their furniture or store them.

Hello, I'm Crystal Elk, Vancouver BC Canada. Very good channel, I enjoy your taste of the past! I've done some similar hunting here in Canada & United States of America. The name of the food elevator, " called a Dumb waiter" here! We grew up in a historical area with many of old places to play in as a child! While I spent many hours at an old mansion turned Library & Art gallery! My friends that lived in mansions I seen some very cool things! I was born in 1961! Thank you for bringing all that back to me, great memories! Sending positive vibes your way. Peace Love And Dreams!🇨🇦 Most Sincerely Crystal Elk 💞🎥💖🌍💙🌎💜🌏🗻🏞️🏖️✌️💕💭😉
