In Sidney they do a good job removing everything in these abandoned buildings. Here in the US not so much. Everything is left inside as if it was left that way the day it shut down. It’s creepy.

Yeah - Sydney is a tough place for abandoned urbex , everything is usually properly locked up , some with on-site security for years , others with active cameras and police called remotely when your detected . When people do get in it’s trashed in no time , making it hard for us to make an honest video where all we do is enter for the purpose of documenting and leave as we find it . Thanks for watching .

Just looked into your channel , your doing some very nice work yourself, you’ve got me subscribed to you aswell. Unfortunately in Australia these places are kept locked up with onsite security and/or active cameras , the second something is left open or is made open the graffiti and vandalism is quick to appear

From the layout of the building. I’m trying to figure out the configuration? Seems as though the patients didn’t have their own room but sharing quarters (and who knows how many people were sleeping in 1 room). I don’t know if In australia mental asylums were prone to being over crowded around that time

Not to sure , this sector was majorly underfunded by government and I guess it still is today , however todays standards of care are far better than decades ago .

Awesome explore, this is one of the buildings I've always wanted to explore! Do you still think it's worth the explore or has the entry been patched?

This was filmed 3 days before posting so maybe it’s open still , best go on weekend as a construction site lives next door with plenty of eyes watching during the week . Thanks for watching.

@@exploringsydneyandbeyond9059 confirming it's still not patched as of yesterday, got in and out without any issues, thanks for the heads up! Did you manage to get into any other buildings on this site?

@@brandon8333that’s great , the one next door I didn’t get in , the 2 open doors don’t led into the building , the other buildings on the far side all have active security cameras with a Mobile patrol driving around . But still haven’t fully investigated all the buildings as it’s a huge place , so many scattered buildings still in use , I will return at some point

Despite the vandalism and the years of neglect, the place looks like it has some good solid structural bones. It is going to be replaced with a cheaply built, expensive, high rise apartment block, that Sydney seems to be coming full of? It was used for those mental health issues, I would have ended up in place that 100 years ago all because I have depression, but also those who were LGTBQI+ back then would have most likely ended up there to 'treat' their 'perversion'. I'm glad we are more accepting of the LGTBQI+ community these days, overall, though there is still a way to go, as there is with mental health issues and mental illness.

Absolutely correct , the upstairs floor was a little soft and bowed in places and felt uneasy but otherwise it’s solid . No doubt it will be replaced with a cheaply built building , but I’m glad our mentally disadvantaged are in much better places now with superior treatment from yesteryear . Definitely we are in a more accepting environment now , still a way to go but it’s going in the right direction. I wish you all the best with your battles , I hope my videos help you in some small way , even if just to escape for a short time , thanks for reaching out , that’s the hardest step done .
