My mom used to go to that cinema back in the 80s ! She saw Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade and Pretty Woman there ! We used to ride past that theater every time I would visit my grandma in Holmdel. Been super obsessed with the place glad to see more and more people are able to find the way in and get footage of the place before they knock it down. I just hope we find some more pictures of it from when it was open.

I am a retired 35/70mm film projectionist & service technician for major companies since 1970 to 2022. Thank you for the videos, brings back great memories of my traveling around the world as a projection & sound technician for cinemas... ONE WORD OF CAUTION ---- Do Not Touch The Bulb If It Is Inside A Lamphouse, these bulbs get very unstable & can blow up if touched or hit....Trust me the glass will mess up your world real quick, the larger the bulb the worst it will be, DO NOT TOUCH THE BULB !!!.... The projectionist or Technician will wear a safety vest, gloves & a face shield, I always worn a face shield if I was working on the lamphouse around the bulb (lamp) just in case... All the 7K-- 8K--10K-- 12K bulbs use to scare me to look at them let alone have to touch them .... Just Do Not Touch The Bulb, If it explodes the glass will all in you...Not many people outside the movie industry knows this about the projectors, the last mgr/ owners should have remove the bulbs & destroy them to prevent someone getting hurt.... Thanks for the video...

Great advice..and what a great job you did for the industry from film to digital...at least in digital the projection room s are presumably quite. But don't have the fun of reel changes/ splicing etc and presentation curtains which seem to have largely dissapeared...

Since your a technician. What are your take on Christie projectors? Personally i think they are pieces of garbage. Lots of cheap parts that wear out and break. Personally i perfer Simplex projectors. They are very reliable. I thought the xenon buld only exploded when powered on if you touch it and get your oils on it. I miss the days of carbon arc rod projectors. Yes you had to change the rod lots, but i think the light is more pure. Also remember the flamable nitrate film. Those were the days. I am not hip on this digital projection stuff. I love the classic 35mm film.

Great video. What was the name of the theater? Looks like it might of been a General Cinema. They were famous for using the Christie brand projectors. The narrow halls and the color of the seats look the ones in a general cinema we had here yrs ago.

the "paper printout of the features" at 3:28 is not really outdated. 99% modern theaters still use them for workers to keep tabs on movie scheduled.

Great exploration...well filmed..but I always wonder why these sites are not occupied by new development ..surely the land is valuable they're on ?Someone also cut out a neat piece of screen ..maybe for their home theatre? Although the screen size was Terribly small and claustrophobic lol

You do mention a sink hole, I would have like to see what it looked like. The theater closed due to structure issues. Someone also said the ceiling was caving in too. The holes in the screen i believe is where the speakers were. I always wondered where they were when i was kid😅. Finally, i was hoping to see the two small theaters with the caved in roof and hear your opinion. That is apocalyptic.
