Kevin, FYI, that's not a possum. It's a left coast biological refuse recycling quadraped. Gavin Newsome received a 1.2 billion dollar grant to develop this eco friendly project......

Really enjoying this resurrection of the GL. Pro tip: disconnect the wire from the ignition key tumbler to eliminate the buzzing. The buzzer will still function if the headlights are left on. I did this on my 88 GT because I constantly would have the radio on with the doors open while working or cleaning the interior and the buzzer annoyed the crap out of me, lol.

What a solid machine. Depending on how you look at it, that engine is a lot more streetable than the 4. Just off idle she's producing most all the torque you're gonna get. No speed demon but an easy cruiser.

Craig, I've discovered over the years when cleaning the fuel system on a storage special. Go to your local farm store and buy a tractor sediment bowl to mount on your firewall/inner fender to pull gas through before it hits the pump/filter/carb. This will catch 90% of the crap before it gets into the important bits and is easy to clean out. It can easily be removed once it clears up....or just leave it on

with the mustang, I'd go to a 302. CHI makes a good Cleveland Head for that 1956 coupe. If you don't know the 351C became the 351M around 1978 & were in trucks and vans. in the 80's it became the 400M, but it is still a Cleveland engine to me. I use moving pads on the ground, on rocks , maybe the side of the round or on hot asphalt.

You guys remind me of my friends and I late 60s early '70s doing the same thing. We were working on old studebakers, Chevys and Fords of course and even a few moparts. Pontiac's Oldsmobiles were also part of our routine. $100 cars, we'd pull apart out go down to the junks and get another one. Little beer drinking took place as well. (No ice cream I remember) Good time getting greasy, I'm in my '70s now. Still have a few of those friends but don't work on cars myself anymore. Dave

You gotta run coolant in the engine if you run straight water the inside of the block will rust Coolant has stuff in it to prevent rusting it also lubes the water pump and helps the engine stay cooler then just water plus it prevents freezing. I see so many people in warmer area`s run straight water and it`s no good for the cooling system or the engine.

It might not be the 300ci straight six that we all know is bulletproof, but it is still a straight 6, arguably the most reliable engine configuration ever

@@MustangsTrainsMowers The pressurized 2.3 in the Turbo Coupes were great. Used to resell those as I could pickem up at auction for cheap. Out of 15 one had a bad turbo, but no seriously bad engines. A couple did have flat cams, easy change.

@@tombryant1104 My brother had a 1979 Fairmont Futura with the standard 2.3 and 4 speed. The idle was never smooth and it was an absolute dog. I worked at an auto auction in 1995 and I once drove an SVO and again the idle was never smooth. I’d love to find an SVO and put a 351w in it.

My dad and I's first project together when I was little was a 56 Ford Customline 2 door hardtop, same car except my dad put a 302 and C4 in it, and with the true dual exhaust and old school walker continental mufflers on her she had the perfect sound to her, not that flowmaster sound you hear out of every V8 nowadays!

I'd love to get an old Fox body with an inline six or even a Cologne V-6, tear it down, install some forged pistons and rods, have the entire bottom end balanced, get or create some higher flowing heads, find someone who can fabricate a custom intake manifold that can use multi-port fuel injection (or one injector per cylinder) with a throttle body, and throw some turbo goodness at it with a standalone engine management system. Everyone throws a V8 into the Fox body chassis to make power and that obviously makes more sense in the long run (and budget), but I have always enjoyed a good custom build just for the sake of being different. Also, I'm not referring to someone just swapping a 2JZ or RB26 into an old chassis, I mean custom engine builders who enjoy making records and working on different engines.

Small block sixes are tuff. They have 7 main bearings. They use the same lifters as a 390.Mill the head.060 and you'll get better compression. And the smog nazis would never know.I've built 17 of these heads(buddies keep carrying them off),cut the single off and put a Weber 32/36,holley 5200 or an Autolite 2100 on the same head. But I think the smoggies will spot that.

Esslinger in Cali, makes some of the finest high performance parts for the 2.3 ford motor could make it a 500hp monster motor but that's a chunk of change for sure or just put a big turbo kit on it or just leave it as it is dang so many possibilities , like the series on this one

You can pour fuel into the input and poutput lines of a mechanical fuel pump and let it sit for a few it'll usually bring the diaphragm back around and make the fuel pump work again.

400M has a C6 not a C4, M shares the Cleveland's big block bolt pattern, there's no C4 big block variant. "It was primarily used with Ford's inline six-cylinder engines and small V8 engines (see Ford Windsor engines), usually up to 302 in³ (5.0 L). By comparison, the 351 Windsor and 351 Cleveland small and intermediate-block engines were backed by the medium-duty FMX or the heavy-duty C6 that debuted in 1966. Some C4s were built with a larger spread bell housing to use with 351M V8s, but these are rare." Boiling fuel in the carb... I feel like I just watched a Junkyard Digs episode about this..

Craig, this is in no way an ignorant or disrespectful comment, but with the long hair and the stache you really remind me of a mix of Kurt Cobain, and Kiefer Sutherland (back in their late 20s). Edit: So sad that Kurt only lived to be 27...granted it was a death by suicide, but everyone who grew up listening to Smells Like Teen Spirit, mourned his death. I was 10 when he died (13 days before my 11th birthday, 4-5-94). Awesome time to be alive.

3.3 litres is 200 cubic inches of raw ford power, aussie versions went from 144 cu inches in the early XM falcons and went to 200 cu inches in XR falcons from memory, the last versions that were 250 cu inches in the XB series and changed to the 250 "crossflow" 250s and ended up having alloy heads and fuel injection, not a bad engine at all, sorry about the word dump, have a great day
