The building you referred to as Niles Packaging was the warehouse for the Shell Truck loading facility and the Koch was Texaco

I remember a Conrail switcher sitting on the St Mary's switch back in late 1997-98. I didn't know at the time what it was being a youngster and new to area. It was cool seeing the switcher while going up the toll road entrance.

This video was awesome! I had been looking for photos of trains using this line and didn't really come up with anything. The picture of the Penn Central loco going across Cleveland Road left me in awe as I have lived around this area since 1996. I asked my dad about the Darden road tracks because his house, that he moved into in the mid 80's, was literally 100 yards from those tracks but he says he does not remember seeing tracks there at that time so they had to have been removed just before that. I'm so glad I stumbled across this video and all your other South Bend area videos!

The Michigan Southern electric railroad ran parallel until 1934, you can still see bridge abutments at Juday creek.

I grew up in the area between Cleveland and Darden Rds from late 50s through late 70s. There was a siding on the south side of Darden Rd on the east side of the line. (where North Village Mall was... long before the mall was built in early 70s)

For sure North of Darden south of Brick. Are you sure there was something South as well? Remember what it served?

@@michianamainlines3538 I have no idea what it served. It was abandoned as far back as I remember in the mid 60s. I don't believe it was even connected to the main line. we used to play with the switching arm and try to make the tracks move. From what I remember, it was gone by the early 70s. Only place I recall that was there was the Alou Motel. I wasn't allowed to cross Darden Rd to the north, so I know it was south of Darden.

French Paper was still being served in November 1991 because they had 2 box cars there at the warehouse at that time.

I like seeing the one in Roseland .. just live north ofPendal Street on Weber been there for over 40 years I remember the trains For lack of a better term we used to call the Spurline are we thought it became a Spurline just for the lumberyard👍🏼 I wonder when the rail line was put in. And then there was a dirt road right next to it east or in the east direction right next to it going north and south. and we used to run the go carts and mini bikes up and down the dirt alleyway this is when my son was young and all the kids in the neighborhood was young I played just like the kids LOL Yeah but if you use that to Cleveland Crossing you better watch cars blow through the red light I’ve been on my bicycle going and enjoying the trail but yet you Gotta be on your toes Great video I’m having to save some of the photos you put up unfortunately I have to blow them up because they’re kind of small😉 So there were two tracks side-by-side?
