Hey Lee Great to meet you .... sorry I scared you ..! Apparently there was a couple that lived here and they had no family .. the wife died about 20 years ago and the man lived there on his own until he died a couple of years ago . I found some photos from last year and the house was packed full of items so someone had obviously cleared the place out Cheers Greg

After all the trouble you've had making the last couple of videos, This was well worth the wait! That tea tin was decorated with pictures of British monarchs and a very young Queen Elizabeth. Nice work finding this little gem. I can't wait until the next one! Always a pleasure. ...Brian

Great video and i love the "Bonus Clips" addition! The gentleman looked like he had been a corporal in the army and the photo looks to have been taken between the 1930's- early 1940's. You "young nippers" wouldn't remember those food items and furnishings (most houses had only a bathtub and no shower)...I grew up with them and things older than that. Everything was in glass, cardboard boxes or tins...no plastic at all and things were shipped in wooden crates (with straw inside) and barrels. Coal was a big source of heating still and just by the stove in the kitchen (burrrrr). Oh how times have changed...and this is in the USA.
@LeeRielly

Oh nice, thanks Jim! Quite an old photograph then, if it was the people who lived in this house then there's a good chance they could've just passed with old age and the house just being left which is a great shame 😞 Glad you enjoyed the video! 😀

Hi Lee, Just read through the comments, the tea 'box' is a cabby as pointed out with the Queen as a young girl and the rest of the family. The fire place would have burned coal and next to it was the oven. Gran's house that I lived in, had a front room just straight from the pavement and the back room was everything else (toilet out the back joined to the wash house and shared with next door),back room kitchen - no - stool with basin on under a cold tap for the sink, cooker in the corner, black lead range for hot water, extra oven and heating, two bedrooms and that's your lot, so your house wasn't that small really. This was called a miner's cottage, Great vid again, Next please , thanks x

lee, at 2:44 that is an old cooker-it probably used to be the kitchen until they moved it to the other room/it looked like in the new kitchen they had a place for a wood burning stove or cooker/that's why the old kitchen had all those cupboards/pantries ect...nice find & ty for the video!

The tiled fireplace is typical of the period around the 1950's. Bathroom too. That roof design is quite common in older buildings, which makes maximum use of the roofspace. Common in 1950's/ 60's dormer bungalows too.

Hi Lee, Truly enjoying your video's. It's kind of funny that the house has a old box of Corn Flakes in it. The reason why I say that is because I live only 20min from the Official Kellogg Cereal Company where they make Corn Flakes along with many other cereals. Not to mention where the original "Tony Tiger " is from. Kellogg Company is in Battle Creek Michigan, USA which the city is known as " Cereal City USA". This is because we have two other major cereal company in the same town, one it "Post Cereal" and the other is "Ralston Cereal Company". As you drive through town you can get a smell of what cereal's they are making for the day. Sorry did not mean to take up your time, just was surprised when you showed the box of corn flakes. If you have a chance look up Kellogg Company it's a great place. Thank you again for a great video.

We do have Corn Flakes over here and Kelloggs branded cereal but it was mainly the old style packaging which was amazing to see, I haven't seen boxes like that for as long as I can remember :)

The oven. Was either wood or coal stove to heat or cook with. People still use them because in colder weather they serve a dual purpose and they are beautiful. The bathroom is amazing it’s Assad the house is left to die when some work could bring it back but it’s not a new home but better built then today’s, be safe!

The food products that look super strange to you were sent to the home in the mail box ,from the 1950's to mid 1980's product manufacturers would send free" single serve" samples to every home in a zip code on the same day . Back in 1976 my wife & I received 64 single serving ceral boxes on July 1st from Kellogg, every cereal sample was unheard of test products like " crunchy logs " and " stars and stripes " which never went into production ,we still have all 64 boxes of that test market cereal in our storage locker . I've been collecting vintage Americana since 1957 and have 5 climate controlled storage lockers full of what I've collected ,4 lockers are 15x15 and are full of packed away items ,the 5th locker is 30x30 & is set up with floor to ceiling shelves of vintage stereo electronics and 14 pairs of late 1950's to mid 1960's stereo speakers ,one day I'm going to invite every KZbin explorer channel to my business and allow everybody to film my collection ,my son & I mapped it out & were thinking we could display everything in 17 storage lockers In a row after everything is unboxed ,were hoping to invite all explorers at Christmas time this year so everybody can do a big vintage explore in a warm well light building .

You can tell a bit about the age of the food boxes by the currency of the price on them. Anything after 1970 will be in pounds and new pence (p), before that, like the tea on the mantlepiece, in shillings and old pence(d). I was impressed that not only did the house have indoor toilet and bathroom, but that they were upstairs too. The tiled fireplace that you liked could have been 1930s/40s but more likely 1950s.

Really love the old food packets, sad when people take things. Not only is it respect but others get to see older and rare items, sadly if it's not bolted down it'll be stolen. Also the Lady in the picture around 4 minutes looks very masculine. It could be the reason why they were alone, she' taller than him. He's far from a small guy so imagine how big she was
