Abandoned Save A Lot - Leechburg, Pa. Closed in Summer 2019, the store really gave no warning about them closing other than becoming low on inventory and having more and more empty shelves. When a local media reporter called to ask about the closing of the store, the lady who answered was unnecessarily rude and hung up on that reporter. No wonder the place went out of business.

I see that this video was an older one, but wow. It brings back some memories as I grew up in Vandergrift, nearby. I didn't know where you were at first until you mentioned Fisher's Big Wheel. I'm actually old enough to remember that place and I used to think it brought about the demise of the downtown shopping in Vandergrift ( along with the collapse of the steel industry ). I remember a winter as a kid with a fun ride in my big sister's boyfriend's 69 Chevelle doing donuts in that snowy parking lot. The auto parts store used to be a theater and the road that you headed out on took you past the highschool that I graduated from. I still dream of that town and that area almost 40 years since leaving. Thanks! 🙂

Seeing this late but I was just shopping at the Big Lots there 2day- - sorry I didnt get to meet you there. There are camper trailers stored in the old Kmart parking lot now- 1- 2021

Our Save-A-Lot in Albany NY ended up closing but didn’t have a note on the door and the sign wasn’t removed until almost a month after it closed. Last time I checked there was a second Albany location but based on all these comments below talking about their closures I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s closed by now, seems to be something still open

I grew up in that area. There used to be a cinema I II III where auto zone is now. The save a lot building was a shop and save years ago.

The Save A Lot in my city closed in June last year, the one near me did announce their liquidation... literally the same day that the Rite Aid Next door announced theirs. Both still sit vacant to this day

There is (as of about two years ago) an abandoned Save a Lot in or near Paoli, IN. No idea if it's still empty or whatever, though.

There was a Save A Lot near where I live that opened in a subdivided grocery store (which closed in 2008) in Mid-summer 2009. It shut down just before fall of that same year. In 2013, the spot was demolished and it's now a Goodwill, Starbucks, and US Cellular

Judging from the store's awning, it may have been an A&P supermarket, prior to it's conversion to a Sav-A-Lot. Whenever Sav-A-Lot moves into large store, they wall off the areas to the left and right of the entrance/exit area, and only use the center section, leaving two extra available storefronts. The Lindenwold, NJ Sav-A-Lot is walled off similar to the store you were at in your video, and that too was a former A&P (later rebranded as SuperFresh).

I was guessing Ames or Hills, since it appears that a wall was built to the left doors, since Save-A-Lot needed a smaller space, and that there are docks at the closed section. Some Hills stores had that lobby with doors on both sides.

Our old Sav A Lot has been abandoned for 3 years now. I went and explored it a few months ago, and was suprised to see the cash registers still in place. And the flat screens on the register poles were not only still on, but they were also still playing the loop of advertisments.

There was an abandoned Save A Lot in Grove City that has recently converted to (part of) Grove City Christian Academy. At least the building is being put to good use! Now if they can do something with the abandoned Rite Aid...

The Save A Lot in Rio Grande, NJ closed in 2018. I think in October. Incidentally, The Save A Lot was located in the same shopping center as the closed K Mart. That is being repurposed as a Tractor Supply.

The Save A Lot here closed. The prices weren't all that great and compared to the nearby Food Lion it was straight up nasty. The town allowing a meth clinic next door was the final straw and they closed up. Building was renovated by a car dealership.

Been watching your stuff for a while. The Save A Lot had been Shop 'n Save. Plaza once included a bank, Papa Johns, Curves. A 3 screen cinema was on the site of the AutoZone, which opened when the Casino Theater in Vandergrift closed for good around 1984. Giant Eagle and Kmart were neighbors in Hyde Park Plaza from 1984 to about 2004, with Giant Eagle occupying the place occupied by Family Dollar, Anytime Fitness, Peebles, and the vacant space that housed Olympia Sports for a year or 2. So Giant Eagle and Shop 'n Save / Save A Lot had enough business for both for many years. The McDonnand's was rebuilt on a site that once had both McDonald's and Long John Silver's. The McDonald's sign was placed on the sign post that once had the Long John's sign. Every Peebles is closing and reopening with the name Gellman;'s or Geldman's. Allegheny Plaza has rotted for years. I think the owner has long hoped to sell to a developer wgo will bulldoze everything and drop a Wal-Mart on the lot. In 2008, when all the cheap money dried up, the hopes of selling were dashed, and they put some fresh paint on the place in hopes of attracting more tenants.

Save a lot belongs to Niemann foods the same morons who took out county market in keokuk Iowa and put save a lot in its place but save a lot only lasted about three years and then ace hardware's store which also belongs to niemanns.took over the whole building a couple of years ago and it's not doing so hot either..

I was never a fan of this store, they had some cool chips and stuff but you could get them at any other store. Thats about it. I learned to parallel park behind this Save a Lot. Used their shopping carts as two cars.

That sounds like United Supermarkets here in Lubbock, Texas which they have kept H-E-B from moving in Lubbock plus a few years ago Albertson's closed their stores but a couple of years ago I think United Supermarkets sold out to Albertson's which United Supermarkets still have the name which Albertson's made a deal to to United to keep the name so all one family. Now we will finally get a H-E-B here in Lubbock which be opening this fall, well the 31st of October to be exact. Sorry I'm just rambling on. Thank you for sharing.

yes Peebles went out of business most of the Peebles is changing to another store called Gordmans cause the Peebles in Moundsville west Virginia is one of the 75% of the locations that is but probably because there's barely any where to shop at so its probably not one of the 10% percent changing to Gordmans I know slacking packing did a video of a abandoned Peebles in Ohio that's not becoming Gordmans so the Leechburg pa one could be one that's not changing to Gordmans also but we don't know yet who knows

same because I was raised my first house was in new Kensington Pennsylvania my step mom Vickie for a few years worked at the Kmart in new Kensington Pennsylvania until 2008 due to her thinking It wasn't goona last longer then everyone else thought if see would've not left her job early she would've probably worked there until the beginning of last year in 2019 they announced the new Kensington Pennsylvania Kmart was goona closed the same day as shaler pa Kmart cause of the bankruptcy cause the new Kensington Kmart was a Eddie victim to sadly my stepmom was crying for a few days when I told her that her old job was closing because of stupid Eddie if he would've bought the Australia Kmart company with the person that owns the Australia Kmart's then he would've been doing good still the owner for the Australia Kmart is probably laughing at Eddie now for what hes doing to our Kmart's. also did you know for a couple of years back then in the 90s the person that was the owner for the Americas Kmart's actually owned like 50% of Australia's Kmart's for a few years but not any more but I found out about it 2 days before new years eve which is very cool. if the owner would've kept on doing it both bankruptcy's would've not happened Eddie just had to screw it up cant believe all the Kmart's will be gone in the us by spring-summer of this year at the end of the rainbow Eddie will have a video of the owner of the Australia's Kmart's laughing at him for making the us version filling for bankruptcy 2 times even though the original owner of Americas Kmart's doesn't own it anymore but I know it was a guy because my step mom told me she helped opening the doors of the new Kensington's Kmart grand opening and its cool I have a wall paper in my room of what the entrance looked like more then 20 years ago also back on topic about this video I think I herd the Washington Pennsylvania one closed I might have to make a google maps video on it which is very sad I been to the Washington one a lot also about sears did you watch wallies video when he did my Kmart at the Washington crown center mall in Washington Pennsylvania it recently closed last year less then 2 months ago thx to stupid Eddie he had to make me sad about my local sears being gone oh well least my sears survived the bankruptcy list back in 2018 that and my local sears became the last one in west pa.

Save A Lot stores are ok. But be careful. You get what you pay for. My mother would never shop at a off brand store such as these. She likes name brand foods/merchandise etc.

No, it closed, there is a Shop 'N Save about 3 miles away, it was just doing better, and not 100% sure but I think Giant Eagle may have been involved, prior to 2002 Giant Eagle used to occupy the space where Family Dollar/Peebles are in his shot, Dollar General used to be next to the Save A Lot, where the Chiropractor building is used to be Dunkin Donuts, the small plaza in front of Kmart used to be a Ponderosa (expanded on) McDonald's used to have a McDonald's and a Long Kohn Silvers in that area, Autozone used to be a movie theater
