Another relic of the past that was once a great spot in the travels of everyone that once stopped i remember places like that from the 70s an 80s when i was a kid on family holidays an they guy that owned it used to fill your tank an have chat about where your going or come from looking at that yellow it may have been a golden fleece . That was quite a set up at one point I suspect a road was diverted and then no passing traffic and that was the end of it 👍👍👍

Yes it must’ve been a thriving business at some point in time, there used to be a rail siding there but that’s gone, most farms have been bought and merged with others so the area outgrew the need for a shop I assume and then it went down hill from there. Still very saveable with time effort and money though..

@@amuxpatch2798 Probably the kids moved away to the cities and the folks that remained stayed until they either died or were too old to manage the place anymore, shifting all that stuff costs money and if this place is far away from civilisation trying to do so wouldn't be worth the effort.

Sad to see Gutha finally completely abandoned. There was still someone living out there a few years back. Just realised that I had some footage but never made a video about this place - will have to rectify that.

Yes it’s definitely a shame, there was someone living there up until the cyclone came through and caused havoc a few years back. We lost power for a month or more further up Gutha east road. It’s saddening when small towns die..

The shop is likely to have been also a shell service station. It seems the sign displayed the word Shell" on it which is somewhat still visible.

The main shop building goes back 100 years, the house was still being lived in only two years ago until the cyclone went through the area.

Yeah it’s quite a good spot to explore, it’s an old rail siding named “Gutha” north west of morowa wa. Just up a bit there are rail silos still in use.

Yeah mate as I travel for work, I do contract farm work all over Australia. Currently sowing in wa so any chance I get I go exploring. Fuel bill, well it’s definitely my biggest expense but worth it to get remote and see the sights.

Without doubt a 1949/1950 Austin A40 if it had a floor mounted gear stick. After that gear stick was on the steering column. The 1947 & 1948 model did not have the small parking lights below the headlights ..... you can see where the parkers would have been. Had a 1950 A40 as my first car in 1967. Great memories ad I'm sure the one in the vid could be behind quite a few great yarns. They were notorious for dropping out of 3rd gear ( bloody nuisance when cornering) and front shockers were bloody useless .... hit a pothole and you were still bouncing a minute later. Only cost me $100 so can't really complain !!

Hey mate. Great footage. Here’s a question to you. When you were videoing, we’re you listening to music? If no, why is it that your viewers have to? Just asking. I usually read captions with the sound off as music is annoying. Every KZbinr seems to think music is mandatory but it’s much more real to be in your shoes as it happens, if you get my drift. Nonetheless, keep up the videoing. 👍🏻🙏🦘
