Abandoned Since 2018 - Will This 1994 Eunos Roadster run and drive to an MOT?

Not as easy as I thought it might be, nearly getting struck by lightning, electrical gremlins and popping hydraulics - reliable little things these Mazda MX-5's, Miata's or Eunos Roadsters are supposed to be but this one didn't want to wake up without giving me some serious back ache! Fantastic little car though and I can't wait to get stuck into part two!

My wife has had 4, Mk1, 2 Mk2.5s (1.8s) and a Mk4 2.0 (current) Fantastic little cars!! I've driven some serious machinery and the little MX5 is just one big pile of great fun...easiest car to slide around like a lunatic and you'd have to be an utter talentless knob to lose one....the mk2.5s rotted bad...inner wings, sills and around the front rear arches which is close to seat belt mountings so there is NO room for negotiation with the MOT. Engines bulletproof as long as you look after them...all ate brakes but I think that was down to the lead footed, smiling drivers rather than any inherent design issue! Loving this!!

The American channels are great but you get so much more variety over here, and these are the cars I grew up with. Almost every car I see on this channel I have had hands on experience with in one way or another even if it's just my mate's parents had an old rover or I knew a guy with a spitfire and I had to give him a tow once. Except maybe the Panhard, that really is before my time.

I would love to see a Mark 3 Cortina on the channel, that was the first car I owned, though it was getting on in years when I bought it back in 1986. I loved the curves that, sadly disappeared with the Mark 4/5/Sierra. Luckily I live on a hill as most mornings I had to bump start it :).

I've been laughing to myself for about 5 minutes now.... Seeing your reaction to getting up after being under the dash is exactly how I'm feeling.... I'm under the dash on my own MX5 as I'm watching it 😂 Tiding up the wiring under the dash after doing a full wire tuck. So I can still easily access the diagnostic box and relays that were in the engine bay.

Wow, I think I was on the edge of my seat every time you tried to start the engine. I became a Mazda convert after I bought my 3 in 2005 and it’s still running great. Over here, the MX5 is highly respected and older ones can still be bought at a reasonable price. An expat watching in S Florida. Your buddy is a Godsend with all his MX5 knowledge.

Loving the Pop up headlights and the body styling, the Perfect Ferrari Red for the bodywork of this Beauty. The Exhausting Twinpipes sound really Awesome Ben, with that Superb Growl from the rear of her. I really bet, that she is rather Fast off the mark, with her 1.8 Fuel Injected Power Plant. 2 hour video but great to watch. I thought that paint was beyond saving but was amazed how well it came up. The rust is extensive though and will be on the inner cills as well. The engines on these are indestructible even if not well maintained so no surprise it ran like clockwork. I've had two, one of which I've had for the last 8 years. Mine is a 1.6 which is happier to rev out and there's hardly any difference between them performance wise. I have the same toad immobiliser, I believe these were mandatory when importing these cars.

I dont kneo why but i find watching you break open the rust holes abd pull them appare very therapeutic. I would love to see you break all off the soft areas open and clean them up with a wire brush until they are 100% clean

The bodywork will look very nice with a good buffing. And it's probably worth doing a really good job on the plating up for a better selling price. I'm guessing the a/c was removed just before the car was exported from Japan.
