One thing to take away from this, as with all the barn find vids is there is emotion and connection. What Jonny does is respect, appreciate and nurture the beloved car. Nice Porker. I'd ask someone who knows 911s about the oil. Those dry sump units have to be checked when running otherwise you'll over fill the engine and boomski. I know because I done this myself when I was an apprentice. Chances are you'll need to drain the system to see how much was already in the engine before you topped it up.
@stumo8681 Жыл бұрын
I'd agree, drain it down, refill it with correct amount, As you say, dry sumps are tricky, you can easily overfill them.

Such a heart warming barn find! There's so much I can relate to Helen and her family, coming from near Bham, part moving to mid/north Wales in the late 80s when I was very young with my parents. Sadly, my father passed suddenly having just celebrated his 50th in 1989, leaving my dear mum to balance both lives we had in the Midlands and Wales, the latter being a slate miners cottage in the mountains which took a serious amount of work. As a 9 year old, I really had to grow up quick to support her. I do sorely miss all the good years and memories that were taken away from us. My dad and his family were huge car fanatics too. I lost that mentor and personality that could have guided me in life. One can never be bitter about a bad situation though, life is hard and you have to make best with what you have. Helen, if you do happen to read this, please, please hold on to that car dearly. Get it running, fix it's faults and drive it when you want to be close to your husband - his soul is always with you. My dad has been by my side for 34 years now even though I barely remember him - but I do always wish I had one of his cars to keep running, it would feel like I was keeping him alive somehow. Bless you and your life to come Xx

Lovely story and film. Two fantastic cars. I had a TR6 which I loved and presently a Carrera 4S 997.2 and felt for Johnny trying all sorts to get the Porsche running. So many memories lifted into life from Helen triggered my own fond days gone by thoughts. Thank you 🙂 Maybe there should be a “Where are they now” car seeker facility.

RS2000 could well be alive. Last MoT was 2000 on around 70,000 miles.

DVLA website also says _"Date of last V5C (logbook) issued - 21 May 2012,"_ so yeah, seems likely it's still in one piece!

The last MOT is showing as expired 2020.

@@tallblokesam possibly classed as historic vehicle so won’t necessarily need MoT now?

Last MOT was a pass in Apr 2019, so hopefully in good nick somewhere. Currently declared SORN so likely in a garage?
