Dan T very interesting! Would they have been installed into each smoke detector individually? Also they must have had a real strong battery life as the earliest date on any piece of documentation/inspection sheet we could find was September 15th 2013, crazy!

Well basically that thing dont need alot of current especially in emergency backup mode so the backup batteries if they good can last for years but its not gonna beep any much longer because that beep indicates backup battery low state.

Some smoke detectors have backup batteries after power is cut to them they after a while will start sending a short beeps as indication that they are dying..
