Merch available now! www.grindhardp... This is the full time lapse of the totalled/abandoned 2000 Toyota Tacoma.
Special thanks to Rouge Fab. Check out our tubing bender here bit.ly/2xsnB3e and our notcher bit.ly/2qaNHEE
We started with a 1st gen Toyota Tacoma that was rolled/totaled and left for dead. We bought the project for $150 from a friend and got to work.
We removed all the fenders and broken windows then removed the bed. When we did this we found terrible frame rust. Next step was to give it a test drive and see how much work she needed.
We charged the battery, aired up the tires, changed the oil and trans fluid then took it for a drive. Every selection on the automatic transmission was drive except for park. We we drove it around the yard it only seemed to be in second gear. We played around with the shift linkage and got nowhere fast. It was time for a new transmission.
While we were waiting and looking for deals on a five speed trans we got to work on the front fenders and bumper. For the bumper we used 1 1/2”D 1/8”W Steel tubing and bent it with our Rouge Fab HD600.
For the fenders we used 1”D x 1/8”W steel tubing with 1/8” think plate steel and we are so happy with how it turned out! These fenders are absurdly strong! ... Read the full build here www.grindhardp...

This is by far my favorite video you guys have put out. The amount of crazy fabrication and skill this took is awesome. The bed is by far the best part of the truck in my opinion. This is somethin that I could see myself beatin around in too. Keep up the awesome vids and I look forward to seein the next one.

Awesome job guys! I do a lot of fab work and can really appreciate the time and effort you have put into this, not only the work but I also make KZbin videos of projects like a homemade bandsaw mill, and I built a quad truck from a POS broken down quad, and from my own experience not only does it take drive to finish the project, it also takes a lot of effort to document and make a video telling the story. Ps the A holes that thumbs down are just jealous they won’t ever have the skills to build anything close to this. Take care :) from the Olympic peninsula Washington.

It is good to see that you welded the diff. up and made it a manual trans. There is nothing worse then a 4 wheel drive with open diffs. I have never understood why any manufacture would use an open diff on a 4 wheel drive, putting the power to the tire with the least amount of traction always has seemed to defeat the whole purpose of an off road vehicle

Either way if u took the v.i.n off u could prolly say it’s homebuilt and just use it as a backyard beater type thing.
