hi there. I am trying to find out ultimate load carrying capacity of a RC jacketed column. earlier the column dimension was 300*300 and the ultimate load carryimg capacity of that column is 963.045KN(Calculated mathematically in Accordance with Indian Standard code IS456-2000). Now i am trying to provide a jacket of Reinforced Concrete(RC) to that column of 100mm thickness. So , the new dimension of that column becomes 500*500. Area of steel provided Everywhere is 1% of gross cross-sectional area. SO what will be the new ultimate load carrying capcity of jacketed column (with ABAQUS)? I am ready to purhase CAE file

Thank you for the video, it is very helpful. I used to use static riks method for the nonlinear buckling part. What is the difference between using static riks and using dynamic explicit? The static riks method appeared to diverge when using general contact (standard).

I want to do an under water impulsive loading simulation on a cylinder using CEL where I need to create a blast wave by appling an input velocity profile in the inflow Eulerian boundary condition. But I can't understand how to give a prescribed velocity in the inflow condition.

I couldn't make it work in Explicit mode, There is an error saying "The elements contained in element set ErrElemExcessDistortion-Step1 have distorted excessively." Also, you did changes in the mesh for explicit that were not shown, am I wrong?

The video is good, and luckily it worked for me, almost exactly equal, but I wanted to comment on the fact that I couldn't find when he re-meshes for Explicit Type, which he says he will when meshing Standard in Linear Analysis.

Hi, thanks so much foe your detailed video. In this tutorial, you model the nonlinear buckling by importing the imperfection from linear buckling. I used to watched one of your videos, which is also about the nonlinear buckling using the explicit analysis, however you didn't import the imperfection from the linear buckling analysis. Do you remember that video? I am wondering what is the difference between the two methods (one has a linear bulkling analysis before the explicit analysis, and the other is using the explicit analysis only)? I will appreciate your response.

Linear buckling don't have the imperfections.

yeah, I know. You use the deformation of the first three buckling modes as the imperfection in the nonlinear buckling analysis. So I just want to know what is the difference if you don't do this first linear buckling step. Thanks.

In reality column is not perfect. They have imperfection. If you don't use the imperfection then you will end up with higher buckling load.

Hi, thank you for your videos. I have a question, have you checked the the Ratio of kinetic energy and internal energy and also the Ratio of artificial energy to internal energy? Is there any efficient way to modify the simulation by reducing those ratios to less than 5%? Many thanks.
