As you know, Adam, my cla 45s is 2 years old. A few months ago, while waiting in a parking spot for a McDonald's, a young lad approached me and asked if he can take pictures of my car. He said he had never seen this model up close and was blown away by it. He was driving a very nice 7 years old cla his pride and joy. Just goes to say how special the 45s are. Never happened to me before.

Both car’s owner from China, this topic pulls me here, had m2c first for a years first, still miss the fun and sound, especially when in raining day I can do a little spin when U turn, I had install kw cs3way and akrapovic exhuaust made this car super fun to drive and loud, however aftermarket exhaust is not allow here, I have to sell it after police found me. And the seller provided me a CLA45 for me to use and I end up buying it,but I regret my decision and sold it after 1 months. it feel much slower and less power, with aftermarket intake the sound is not bad, the interior looks better. But it is just not fun to drive.

Nice review! Just ordered an A45S in Spectral blue to replace my 2021 M135i & I own a M2 CS as a « weekend car ». I think the A45S will be more pleasent to drive than the M135i at least!

@@GLA45Amg716 Only on paper. In practice, they couldn't be any more different. Longitudinal vs transverse engine, 6 vs 4 cylinders, RWD vs AWD, coupe vs sedan. Not to forget that the M2C punches way above its class by using the engine/suspension from the M3/M4.

Hey, I’ve heard no news of a whole new CLA yet so it could be a long time before we see a change. Should be safe to buy one now I think. Hard to know though for sure as they could surprise us.

Love the CLA 45S. I have one for about a year now, but I’m moving to M4 competition (2022/23 model). I’m not sure if the 2 liters engine will be reliable in the future, already 20k kilometers on it and I feel something is gonna be wrong soon 😅

Hey Chris, this is the 2021 model m2 in the video so it’s same year as the CLA45s but there is a newer model on the M2 that came out late 2022/2023.

I tested both, the A45s/CLA45s is faster. They improved the C43 a bit in the recent April revision, acceleration has been improved, but the weight slows it down.

CLA45s definitely feels faster. Especially if you get the S and have race mode. The 45s is more wild and sporty while the C43 is more comfortable and a bit more refined inside.

6 cylinder over 4 is a massive draw for me, (even though a BM straight 6 isn't remotely close to what it used to be in terms of character).

The (real) AMG 4-cylinder engines are very aggressive and reliable doing 200k miles and more, don't underestimate those. However, for people who hate those, the CLE 53 (2024) is a rather exotic but interesting car with a 3.0L 6-cylinder engine with an additional electric engine booster.

@@cptcrogge Since the day I saw those Duke boys some years ago, it pretty much had to be a V8. I also like a like, (in this order), a 5, 10, 12, 6 and 3. Then comes the 4. The AMG 4 cyl are still 4 cyl. Only exception I can think of is the Subaru boxer. That is a 4 with good character.

The a45s engine is in the C43. Lovely car. In the c43 Mercedes call it MHEV! Absolutely laughable. The turbo has a little electric motor. They don't call the a45 a MHEV so why c43? Mercedes grasping a straws. Bmw have killed the hybrid game. A battery that will do 45 to 60 miles on pure ev. You can get a m5 and run it on battery power

Keep in mind that the A45s and CLA45s use a juicy dual-clutch transmission but the new C43 is using a common 9G-tronic transmission. On top of that, the C43 has additional weight which is a little bit compensated with the electric engine. If you care about speed and agility, the CLA 45s is the better choice. If you want a 6 cylinder Mercedes, consider the CLE 53.

@cptcrogge that's interesting I didn't know the c43 wasn't dual clutch. Thing that's gets me is why they call the c43 a hybrid but they don't call the a45 a hybrid when identical except for gearbox.

The C43 is a hybrid because it has a 48v hybrid motor that the A45 and CLA 45 don't have. So the C43 has an electric turbo motor and it also has the 48v hybrid motor.

The last and most beautiful M2. I am just so sad what happened to the M2 with the ugly lego pig nose design... In this comparison I would take the M2 competition. Otherwise I would buy the CLA45 AMG over the 2024 M2.

BMW is really missing the mark with the front end of their vehicles. I know its subjective but the nostrils have seemed off for a bit now. Years ago, I was on the fence between the Audi S5 & The BMW M3. I drove them both & was blown away by the raw power of the M3. I ended up driving the S5 home that day. Outside of the power, the BMW didnt feel like it had anything else. It felt more like a street legal go cart & not a well rounded high end experience. I've since moved on to the CLA 45 & felt like that was a natural progression from the S5. I may have become an AMG fanboy since then.

I was close to buying an S5 when I bought my C43. Still a big fan of of Audi, love the S and RS models. I’d say the CLA45 is similar to an RS3 in terms of drive and power. Drove the new RS3 and it felt quite similar to the CLA45s in terms of traction and power. So many great cars to choose from :)
