If you can't feel it when Greg sings, then you're dead. May all these great classics live forever.

Over 10 years ago on a very sad day, I met an older man who after speaking with for a bit asked me my name..told him Melissa, he smiled and asked if I heard my song. I never had.....he said that the next time he sang Sweet Melissa on his guitar that he would think of me. One of the Sweetest things i can remember...what a sweet man!

What a beautiful song, wish my best bud in high school lived long enough to enjoy it, we were big fans of The Allman Brothers Band! This one reminds me of the good times we had.

One of their best songs IMHO and what a great performance of it. Greg sounds great and there is some outstanding guitar work displayed here. Love the harmonizing between the guitars. Flying fingers yet so crisp and clean sounding. It is said that proof of talent is in the live performance. Well folks, here we have it. Not that it was ever doubted. I personally think this is a peek at music during one of it's finest hours.

@Sorthanded02 Actually, Warren IS still in the Allman Brothers Band, and received a Lifetime Achievement GRAMMY this year, as a member of ABB, and his solo album, "Man In Motion" was nominated for a Grammy as Best Blues Album. It's Dickey who got fired. I respect all that Dickey has done in the past. Wish he could find that light again that they BOTH show in this video.

Dickey AND Gregg - were the Allman Brothers. This vid is from 93 or 94 at the latest. Warren was a great addition that sparked life into them when the reunited in 91. Sad that they've never mended fences. That is Butch Trucks fault. Butch is running this band now and Gregg is along for the ride. Wish Gregg would make Butch work it out or leave. Then the heart and soul of the band could return. There isn't much time left...

Must be a mid 90's video because Gregg is bloated from alcoholism. He doesn't look too happy either.

It's not the Dickey Betts band, it's tha ALLMAN brothers band. Dicke has his own band now and I don't see them with Platinum or even gold albums to show for their work.

Dickey became an alcholic ego crazed man, and that's why Warren and Derek are now taking his role. I think the Allman Brothers are better now than they were and I believe it's due to the friction that left with Dickey. Wish Dickey would've faced down his demons and was still on stage though.

ABB have released 2 albums without Dickey. Neither went gold or platinum. The guitar sound that everyone associates as the ABB sound was created by Dickey Betts.and Duane Allman. Without Betts there would be no ABB. Dickey also wrote the majority of the biggest hits the band released and still play today. They should tour as the Gregg Allman Band. Because without Dickey thats all they are.
@salm3712 жыл бұрын
Grammy's are political...Dickey was a original Allman brother....and Greg was a heroin addict for years...who is he to judge
@StevenCarinci12 жыл бұрын
I don't think Warren would EVER think he was better than Betts. You can find teenagers who can play faster than the devil but that doesn't mean a thing. Betts is the man and Warren would agree with me. It's the sound that comes off the guitar not how fast you play. Perhaps you're just projecting you own animus you have towards yourself onto others.
@johnmichaelfoy112 жыл бұрын
Better without Dickey? He is the ABB.
@domepiece7911 жыл бұрын
man i hate to say it but you are flat wrong. while there is no way you can replace a DUANE allman, they have filled his spot with the emergence of dickey in the 70's and added great guitarists like derek trucks and Warren (who cares if he doesnt look the part, hes great). dont hold on to the past, embrace the present my man
@setboy112 жыл бұрын
playing faster? The man is playing *with* Dicky not over dicky doing a bunch of fast crap that doesn't add to the song the they are i tune with each other on the same level

You are wrong my friend. DUANNE and Greg were the Allman Bros. Never the same since. And Warren, skills aside, does not fit and is irritating. The band died with Duanne. There have been 24 member in this band and of all Duane was in it the least amount of time, yet was his band from the beginning. Greg wanted no part of it. I saw them in 73 after Duanne died, not that great.
