Cried so hard hearing this version. Generations dying, irretrievably lost. I could never explain what the Allman Brothers meant to us in the 70's. It was so pure, perfect, soul-stirring. Where did this music come from? I hope it lasts as long as the earth. And what a gentleman--that Jackson Browne--so smart and elegant to step in.
@sparks89348 жыл бұрын
We felt the same way about the Allman Brothers Band in the 70's. When Duane Allman what a heart break. I believe that must've been so incredibly hard. Their music was so unique no others were like them, the blues, the great song writing, arranging and composition to me is unique. Greatly blessed these songs were completed for us to enjoy, forever and pass down to our children.

This song is definitely worth recognizing as one of the best! The change ups make it unique and I get the chills when I listen. Although no one comes close to outshining Greg, Jackson Browne comes close but at the same time seems to look to Greg for approval as he sings.

Jackson does'nt need to look to anyone for "approval", he's a great lyricist in his own right and has an impressive variety of songs in his catalog.

Great performance by all. Amazed that Jackson Browne hardly shows his age.

j flo Named my Jessica after Dickie Betts daughter also. Theirs a story behind that tune he told me once. He looked out his window one day and seen Jessica riding around on her horse. He said when he seen the sight of that...the guitar riff just popped in his head.

I sent this to my daughter to share with her what I was listening to in HS. I asked her if there's music like this today bc I don't really listen to the radio. She said "Frst of all that's beautiful and secondly No".. lol.

My God I Just found out he wrote this song at 17. Think about how and what you were doing at 17. I know times are different, but dang, they grew up fast back then. This song is 50 plus years old and it's still one of my favorites of all time. You alll have a great day

Man that gets me every time…the look Gregg and Jackson give each other when they finish singing…and the solo by Jack Pearson is absolutely one of the best solos I’ve ever heard in my life.
@thekersisteam60603 ай бұрын
Also the look Jackson gives Greg during the line ‘will he hide the dead man’s ghost, or will he lie beneath the clay, or will his spirits float away.’ Heavy and so touching I love that Greg lived to fully and the end of his life deserving of dignity and respect. Wild roads…

Gregg Allman: “The first thing comes to my mind is I said to myself, ‘Gregory, do not cry. Do not start crying.’ If you watch the part with me and Jackson [Browne], we did ‘These Days’ and ‘Melissa’ and if you look at him during the second verse of ‘Melissa’ he was singing and he had a huge crocodile tear out of the outside of his eye and I was thinking, ‘Don’t start, you’ll get me goin’!’ I just happened to look down at the first three or four rows, they were all crying. Everyone in that place.”

+Raven101able I'm very sorry to hear. I don't mean to be too personal, but i was wondering if this song was played at her funeral? I imagine there wouldn't have been a dry eye in the crowd ...
@Raven101able9 жыл бұрын
No it was not one of the songs played, although I specifically asked that it be played. It was 5 years ago today that a police officer knocked on my door to let me know my daughter had died. This is not a good time of year for me. Thank you for your kind words.

+Raven101able OMG, I am sorry if I added to your sadness, today of all days. And I'm sorry that your wish to hear the song that day was not honored. I am a mother (of a 26 yr old female) so I can only imagine the loss. She is my only child also, the light of my life. Gregg is one of my all time favorite singers. He is the epitome of blue-eyed soul. Love love love the man. Take care.
