This song is about the fall of Troy. Cassandra was a trojan priestess. The god Apollo loved her and gave her the ability of seeing the future. But when she didn't return his love he couldn't take away the gift and so he added the curse that no one would believe her prophecies. That's why nobody believed her warnings about the attack on Troy.

True! In addition - Apollon was on the side of the Achaians at first, but after Achilles and Agamemnon defiled his temple, killed his chief priest and took Chryseis, the daughter of the priest as spoils of war, the god turned on them.

Yes Benny loved his accordian ( like on Tropical Loveland) and would incorporate it whenever he could. A great song with his accordian is called "The Way Old Friends Do" he started about age 5. His first accordian is in the ABBA Museum in Stockholm. Try other great Frida songs "Our Last Summer" and "Gonna Sing You My Love Song"

Not one of their better known songs, But this is one of my favorites. Frida's voice is magnificent here. She gets to show her chops. There is nothing the woman can't do. Rock, Pop, Show Tunes, Blues, Hard Rock. And she changes her technique to match each genre.

Many Rock and "cool" critics of the time were painfully savage and humiliative to Abba. But the more they hit them the more we loved them. For us who were buying their records, ABBA was such an approachable refuge.A friendly perfumed garden to escape in there and feel happy ,safe and even cure your pain.

Cassandra was from Greek mythology. She was granted the power to see into the future, but cursed that nobody would believe what she told them about the future.

Happy New year...Thank you for your wonderful reaction to this beautiful song. Frida's voice is spine chillingly beautiful, you've summed up on a point... Emotions being being pulled one way to the other. Time and time again they do this. Regardless of upbeat songs or the true sader ones. ❤ ( Please don't misunderstand the heart emoji) Both of the women could sing a pamphlet and make you cry or dance with joy.. As I may have mentioned, I had the pleasure of seeing them liv e here in Australia in the 70s... even now it's like yesterday. Beautiful, humble and extremely ( understatement) talented people.. Hope you have a fantastic 2025..

Accordion you got it Lil man! After thousands of times of my hearing the song i also spotted somewhere between the verses an accordion sound.Don't know if it's acoustic or synth but it's Benny's fave instrument and his first one since he was a little kid.A present (by his father i think) and that's how he learned playing this.Self taught virtuose.

Familiar soaring Abba-chorus, released as B-side of Single The day before You came 1982. Frida's lead, but Agnetha's punchy high notes very clear in chorus (Like Me and I, try that!) . Still The day before You came performance left in this performance.

Cassandra or Kassandra (/kəˈsændrə/;[2] Ancient Greek: Κασσάνδρα, pronounced [kas:ándra], sometimes referred to as Alexandra; Ἀλεξάνδρα)[3] in Greek mythology was a Trojan priestess dedicated to the god Apollo and fated by him to utter true prophecies but never to be believed. In modern usage her name is employed as a rhetorical device to indicate a person whose accurate prophecies, generally of impending disaster, are not believed.
