Imagine sitting in front of ABBA, no wonder the public went crazy..

Filmed in November 1982. And by the next month of December they will take their final bow as a once in lifetime legendary band. They're running out of steam by this time and wanted to take a break. A good 10 year run i must say. And will come back some 39 years later in 2021 with the Voyage album

Hello again, and thanks for your new ABBA reactions "Under Attack" (1982) it's a good song, in a experimental time of ABBA with change of style, but don't have the power of the others I like Agnetha in lead voice the chorus with Frida is power the perfomance is also great There is a strange Official video, the last filmed by ABBA to your last single (isn't the last recording, that was 'The day before You came') It's a dark video to a dark song, with a deep lyric and a great lead vocal by Agnetha and a catchy chorus I think that "Under Attack" could be Top 10, but only was #26 in UK, good for any artist but not for ABBA expecting These is a perfomance in Gernany 1982, one of their last as a group it's a show express, and these is the last of the three songs I wish you a great weekend my best regards from Buenos Aires, Argentina South America

This was one of 3 songs performed for that appearance. The Day Before You Came, Cassandra, and Under Attack. This was part of a small promotional tour the group in did in Europe to promote ABBA The Singles-The First Ten Years. The songs were performed to edited playback versions. Both couples had separated by now. The guys were planning on working on the musical Chess which would lead to a break in group activity. With that being the case, the girls planned on doing solo albums. Sadly motivation for picking up ABBA again after disappeared some time after and we wouldn't hear new material from ABBA as a group for almost 40 years when the went back into the studio and recorded songs for their last album Voyage.

I used to always watch this and feel sad. At the time it was the last brand new single release in the UK and I missed them. That all changed in 2021, during the nightmare of Covid and lockdowns, came the amazing comeback Abba Voyage. Made my year. Have been in love with them since 1974, and continue to be in 2024. ❤❤❤

ABBA's final days and the very last Abba single release in late '82.We kinda subconsciously suspected that this might be the end, yet we weren't sure, neither ABBA members were.But then after this,some 40 years of silence followed.For some millions of Abba fans, that was really devastating.A fairytail without a 'proper" happy ending,not even a clear official farewell....until 2021!Who could ever imagine this?Will aiways love them.

When they went around with their big logo on the most popular shows, the other artists were not very happy, but their agents had to tell them "If Abba is present, the show will have more audience".

Performing to playback was normal back in those days. It was rare if an artist sang live. This version of "Under Attack" with the so-called cold ending would accidentally be released on an ABBA compilation cassette in 1986. The song was actually made up of bits from two unreleased tracks -- "Just Like That" (recorded earlier in 1982) and "Rubber Ball Man" (recorded in 1979).
@christianoazzuro671119 күн бұрын
So true....Well today it tends to be normal for some (if not many) popular "superstars" to do "live" tours but vocalwise they perform half or even full playback not to the awareness of some people who paid a fortune to watch.Oh well.

🤔the superpowerful arrangement of this song would be significantly weakened in a live performance (otherwise, all Abba songs are very complicated - both vocally and instrumentally.. just like the depth of meaning message of their lyrics), but their lip-syncing skills are masterful (masters of performance, Frida's movements in the background, Agnetha in red and with a ribbon tied around her head..) - still, I think that the audience was especially lifted to their feet by that special nostalgia, chemistry that radiates from all Abba's live performances (their last performance was shortly after this, on BBC TV - again with this song and at the end - 'Thank you for the music' , one verse sung live: by the play of fate - that was their last live performance.. but for me who believes in eternity - coincidences do not exist; everything has its own meaning; and these two bouquets⚘🌹 of ten roses each for Frida and Agnetha🏆 in honor of the first 10 years of Abba) The sounds are purified to the point of eerieness (Michael B Tretow, audio engineer, expert in a sound acoustics - the so-called fifth Abba member and the new Abba studio with the latest technical achievements of that time) - Agnetha's and Frida's vocals in the chorus are so sophisticatedly combined here into one inseparable perfection, thus adding a futuristic dimension here (in my opinion, here and in 'Chiquitita' (one of Benny's favorites) and in a more couple of their most successful works, but they didn't win the charts because there was little time left for adequate promotion, and.. the band disbanded (then when they ahead of their time, so powerfully began to penetrate into a new synthesizer Euro-pop dance music, which would later be continued by Madonna, M. Jackson and other stars of the 80s and 90s), after glam rock and disco pop in the earlier Abba phases
