Everybody who is anybody in the music industry loves Abba. They made utterly perfect pop, they were different from their contemporaries at the time and there has never been another band like them. They are unique. And their music sounds deceptively simple - they're not simple at all and some of them are stupidly hard to sing. Or at least, sing well! I loved this reaction J, a big smile on your face the whole time. Pretty sure that's why they made their music - to make people smile! Peace, Jen

The issue with singing ABBA songs is that you really need two women with well-matched voices singing the harmonies. I love to sing their songs at karaoke, but find myself gravitating to songs like "The Winner Takes It All" because it doesn't feature Frida very much. I'm always in need of a Frida.

A critic said if you wanted to hear the easiest way to make money listen to ABBA. It was a slam. No one worked harder than ABBA on their songs. The girls sang all the multi tracks. ABBA wasn't simple pop by any means. They never got their due until long after they were gone. And even now some say ABBA was nothing more than simple pop. Far from it. You don't sell 400 million records being simple. Second all time to only The Beatles if you weren't any good at what you do.

OneThousandHomoDJs 2 months ago (edited) "Chiquitita" proved to be one of ABBA's biggest hits. It was featured in a 1979 UNICEF charity event, the Music for UNICEF Concert, broadcast worldwide from the United Nations General Assembly. As a direct result of this event, ABBA donated half of all royalties from the song to UNICEF. "Chiquitita" was a No. 1 hit in Belgium, Finland, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland, Mexico, South Africa and Rhodesia. It was a Top 5 hit in ABBA's native Sweden, the United Kingdom (peaking at No. 2 in both countries where Blondie's "Heart of Glass" was occupying the top spot),Australia, West Germany and Norway. This makes it the most successful single from the Voulez-Vous album in terms of global charts and one of the most famous charity songs ever. To this day, 50% of the proceeds from the song go to UNICEF in recognition of the "International Year of the Child" in 1979. My mom played their music a lot when I was a kid! Chiquitita, Fernando, The Winner Takes It All, and Super Trouper were my faves.

Such a warm redemptive song of hope. Benny and Bjorn, were musical geniuses, and Frida and Agnetha were singing and style geniuses i perfect combination. Stig Anderson and Michael Tretow were stunning contributors, and other musicians they called upon played their instruments with such grace and style such as Rutger.

Their songs are for anyone, every one can appropriate them , there are in-temporarily. When I m listening ABBA, I can see joy and like gut above all with this so particular music ; everything becomes so beautiful and gracefully with something innocent and pure.
