I hear you! I love that this song has slow part to sway to that you feel sad for her then the fast part that makes you stomp around in time to the beat gives you hope lifts my spirits and makes me happy and the outro with the piano is a fab ending to a song. Abba are class!!!

Everybody who is anybody in the music industry loves Abba. They made utterly perfect pop, they were different from their contemporaries at the time and there has never been another band like them. They are unique. And their music sounds deceptively simple - they're not simple at all and some of them are stupidly hard to sing. Or at least, sing well! I loved this reaction J, a big smile on your face the whole time. Pretty sure that's why they made their music - to make people smile! Peace, Jen

The issue with singing ABBA songs is that you really need two women with well-matched voices singing the harmonies. I love to sing their songs at karaoke, but find myself gravitating to songs like "The Winner Takes It All" because it doesn't feature Frida very much. I'm always in need of a Frida.

A critic said if you wanted to hear the easiest way to make money listen to ABBA. It was a slam. No one worked harder than ABBA on their songs. The girls sang all the multi tracks. ABBA wasn't simple pop by any means. They never got their due until long after they were gone. And even now some say ABBA was nothing more than simple pop. Far from it. You don't sell 400 million records being simple. Second all time to only The Beatles if you weren't any good at what you do.

The Spanish version of Chiquitita stroke a chord in all of Latin American countries when it came out. It talks to a chiquitita, a humble (and implied, poor) little girl in a Third World country, which most of Latin America was and still is, and gives this little girl a message of hope. OneThousandHomoDJs 2 months ago (edited) "Chiquitita" proved to be one of ABBA's biggest hits. It was featured in a 1979 UNICEF charity event, the Music for UNICEF Concert, broadcast worldwide from the United Nations General Assembly. As a direct result of this event, ABBA donated half of all royalties from the song to UNICEF. "Chiquitita" was a No. 1 hit in Belgium, Finland, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Spain, Switzerland, Mexico, South Africa and Rhodesia. It was a Top 5 hit in ABBA's native Sweden, the United Kingdom (peaking at No. 2 in both countries where Blondie's "Heart of Glass" was occupying the top spot),Australia, West Germany and Norway. This makes it the most successful single from the Voulez-Vous album in terms of global charts and one of the most famous charity songs ever. To this day, 50% of the proceeds from the song go to UNICEF in recognition of the "International Year of the Child" in 1979. In 2014, all ABBA members agreed on increasing their donation to 100% of all royalties from the song to UNICEF. As of 2021, the song's royalties have raised $4.8 million for the charity. This is one of my favourite Abba songs. Agnetha's solo vocals are perfect and when Frida comes in on the pre-chorus the combined voices are so deep and meaningful. Then that power chorus comes marching in like an army of evangelical angels reassuring everyone that things are going to be all right. The sun is still in the sky and shining above you - what a positive thought. Well done JVTV - a great reaction and a heartfelt reaction.

What is often overlooked is English is a second language to them yet you wouldn't know it from how well written their lyrics are.

When they sing "The sun is still in the sky and shining above you" it really gets me in the heart. What utterly beautiful lyrics throughout. And Jay, I have only watched a few of your reactions but already I can see that you're a sweet soul. Don't ever change.

One of their most underrated ballads imho is My Love, My Life. Beautiful in its simplicity. It was never released as a single in the UK sadly.

Been hoping you'd react to this song and this video in particular (with the snowman!). Frida and Agnetha look so lovely here. This song is pristine and perfect. Next by ABBA, perhaps S.O.S. and The Name of the Game? Maybe Waterloo, which was the first song of theirs to put them on the map. Thanks Jay!

Money Money Money was a huge hit back in the days. Not a typical ABBA track, but a track where you could tell that they had fun and played with music. A bit classical, a bit musical. And a great video.

I love the internationality of this song: it starts out Spanish and ends Bavarian, created and performed by Scandinavians. It’s another aspect of their music that just draws you in and with a hug and makes you feel better, whatever kind of day you’ve been having.

Such a warm redemptive song of hope. Benny and Bjorn, were musical geniuses, and Frida and Agnetha were singing and style geniuses i perfect combination. Stig Anderson and Michael Tretow were stunning contributors, and other musicians they called upon played their instruments with such grace and style such as Rutger.
