Actually they could. If it was to be 1986 like it was rumoured to be (4 song titles were actually mentioned too, though as none have appeared anywhere, this was likely a huge miscalculation), we'd have a lot more music from all of them-and very likely that brilliant half-finished 1982 album would have completed to satisfaction.
@heartabba3 жыл бұрын
@@kyachdistent1301 if they came back before they were ready it wouldn't have been as good. they've been very adamant on if it doesn't feel right they don't do it. their music has always been extremely emotional (whether it's happy or sad) and if they made anything before they were ready it wouldn't have been the same bc their hearts weren't in it. im happy they waited until they felt like they could do it.
@kyachdistent13013 жыл бұрын
@@heartabba Well I'm not. Not only have the watered down their extremely potent and untouchably anguished 1982 majesty by letting too many decades change the face of musical into the non-existent awful limbo-hell it's been for at least 30 years without being active to challenge it, but they waited exactly 'til the most horrible and bemusedly exalted and revered pieces of shit like Adele come back to utterly take attention of them for their own shit ends, but then people always did mistake fake orgasms for real over misfiring entities of utter garbage-Madogga and Pete Waterman and rap practically birthed that not long after ABBA closed metal shutters down on their loftiest period. Destiny is unavoidable, as is hell no doubt, but at least they are here in this hell, even if it has actually broken their 5 star album strike-rate begun from "Arrival" onwards, but that still puts it above the first 2 albums (both of which are good anyway) and on par with their 3rd. And, along with Duran's new one, it really is the best album of the year, not that'll have any other contenders, especially if the few good acts we've got left are going to (most likely) wait at least 'til next year to put fresh albums. But I do at least technically rate Gemini's 2 albums as virtually the ABBA albums they are all but in name and exact vocals only, so that does give them 2 more 5 star albums, not least as both albums are virtually full of the stuff ABBA would have made had they gone beyond 1982. And Agnetha and Frida 1980s solo works are pretty cool too!

@@kyachdistent1301 you seem like a hateful and ungrateful person in the first half of this response. but i agree the girls have superb solo music. and at the end of the day it doesn't really matter if you think it was bad timing or not. they still hit number 1 in several countries, got nominated for a grammy and was top 10 on the billboard in the US for the first time. everyone else seems to think they did things perfectly.

That’s correct - the original English version has Björn’s spoken intro; the Spanish version (Al Andar) substitutes it with a lyric sung by… I think it was Anni-Frid? I personally preferred the Spanish; I found Björn’s intro a bit jarring. And the Spanish lyrics tell the story more emotionally for me - the difference in how languages feel is hard to explain.

It starts as a normal, although very catchy tune ... and then at 1:48, the ABBA magic kicks in, THESE VOICES! And who else in the world could sing the world "hello" in that irresistible way Agnetha does? And then at 2:10, the piano of Benny, another signum of ABBA. It could have been a most average dance song, but it is so well crafted and performed in every little detail. Makes me so happy!
@drinkinslim3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say it was well crafted in every little detail; they used what sounds like MIDI (keyboard) brass. I thought the mix could have been better done, including maybe tuning the vocals a bit (parts were out of tune) but the song itself is very catchy - love the A-ha parts and soaring vocal lines.

@@drinkinslim I just think they've done the best out of a once-substandard (for them) song. I feared there's no way they could make it breathe, but they have. All vocals were recorded in september 1978 and the backing track is new to 2021 as Benny & Bjorn stated what they had was unmixable when part of the track was released on the 994 'undeleted' medley on the 4 X CD Box. It has a retro feel like 'Why Did It Have To Be Me', 'Angelyes' (which made it to the Voulez-Vous album when this one was dumped) and 'I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do, I Do' have. Two of ABBA's original studio band Lasse Wellander (Guitar) and Per Lindvall (Drums) play on the track as do a couple of members of Benny's own band BAO who provide the horns. Not sure it deserves single status after listening to the first two singles which really are ABBA of 2021.

So here’s the story of Just A Notion, this is a mash up of old and new. This song was originally recorded in 1978. It did not make the Volez Vous album. They did a number of tales. This is an alternative vocal take from the 78 session. The backing track is all brand spanking new and from the Voyage album sessions.
@eduardooscar3093 жыл бұрын
"Just a Notion" is ABBA's third single from the upcoming new album "Voyage" It is a curious and unique case at the same time, it was a song that they recorded in 1978 during the previous sessions for the future album "Voulez Vous" but later they discarded it And now in this fantastic comeback ABBA retouches it and finally edits it So it has the double character of old and new song at the same time, recorded between 43 years (quite a record), it has the charm of old and new together, and sounds wonderful I must admit that I do not like disco or dance music I enjoy it more listening to it relaxed That's why "Voulez Vous" is not on my favorite ABBA album but "Just a Notion" is a terribly addictive song, impossible to resist dancing to it Its melody is beautiful, catchy and cheerful, the lyrics are pleasant, the voices are spectacular (there are great tones from Agnetha, the union with Frida is of excellence and those A-HA-HA are a brand that is etched in your mind) It's also a great musical production (the saxophone and the piano shine) and the ending is a beauty It gives me the impression that "Just a Notion" is a great piece that stayed with the spirit of the versatility of "ABBA The Album" and has not yet been impregnated with the disco sound of "Voulez Vous" but welcome that now ABBA reconsidered it to include it in the new "Voyage" album ABBA did it again This is a new treasure of Agnetha Benny Björn Frida the Fabs Four from Sweden ABBA returned at a very high level to bring hope and joy to the world
@kyachdistent13013 жыл бұрын
Well it's funny how people never slag off 'Gimme!" Gimme! Gimme!" or 'Lay All Your Love On Me' which are disco-influenced as well, but I don't get the criticism anyway. ABBA have always done music you can dance too, and I might add that, as Andy Bell of Erasure (a long time ABBA lover states) ABBA are "unique in that they're one of the few atcs to fully understand disco and how to harness it for their needs, rather than let it control them. "Voulez-Vous" is NOT a disco album any more than "The Album" is a country album (of which there's more than a few inferences here and there), and 4 of the tracks have nothing to do with it whatsoever, and those that remain, there's so much else going on with them that the disco backdrop-and lovely though it is actually-clearly IS just a backdrop and prove that ABBA, as ever, were right on the times. 'Just A Notion' actually would have sounded just as out of place from "The Album" and indeed on any post-1976 album. This update they've done of it has finally brought out a potential I feared it never would have, it seemed so flat and dated. But, as excited by a new album as I am as anyone, the half-finished 1982 album and "Voulez-Vous" are for me their top records of all, but I see nor problem with artists maintaining their standard, and their return is what we've been waiting for forever. Hell, the last time they were together, the music world hadn't yet gone to shit with the vile intro-suction of slagdonna the vile and Pete Waterman and rap. All downhill from there-in fact far beneath Hell now.
