Hey everyone, Charlene here, and today we're diving into the enchanting world of ABBA with their song "Don't Shut Me Down"! This is my first time experiencing this beautiful track, and I can't wait to share my genuine, blind reaction with all of you!
From the very first note, "Don't Shut Me Down" captures that classic ABBA magic we've all come to love. The harmonious vocals, the elegant melodies, and the nostalgic yet fresh feel of the song transport you right back to the golden days of pop music. Agnetha and Anni-Frid's voices blend seamlessly, creating an atmosphere that's both uplifting and emotional.
Thank you all for joining me on this journey into ABBA's "Don't Shut Me Down." If you enjoyed this reaction, please hit that like button and subscribe for more content! A few years ago, ABBA decided to reunite to create a new show (digital avatars of their younger selves) called ABBA Voyage. First, they recorded two new songs, but the show got delayed and they decided to record a few more, and later a full album also called ABBA Voyage was released in 2021. ✌️

The whole "Voyage" album is great and very much ABBA, It's always kinda crazy with them Bjorn wrote these lyrics for Agnetha to sing. Frida's single is "I Still Have Faith In You". The girls do more harmony's on it and even Bjorn doe's some. It's a very touching song and you get to see the ABBAtars at the end.

Gosh you are late to the ABBA party! I went 200 miles across southern UK to see the astonishing, unique, revolutionary 'concert' in the hall they built in East London, to celebrate my 70th birthday almost two years ago. Almost 3 years since the unexpected, historic final album was released to the world. If you can beg, steal or borrow go to it. Perhaps they might set it up in Las Vegas or Japan some time also. Like you I was definitely not originally an ABBA fan, more Led Z. etc. in the 1970's, but I have later come to appreciate the clever excellence of the music, lyrics and performance of this group. Quality will out, as proved by over 2 years of the 'concert' twice a day, every day in London; a knowledgeable, worldwide audience which does not suffer fools. Just do not ever watch the universally slated pair of films!

It's like ABBA appeared one day again in our lives after 40 years, after overcoming all the frustration and tantrums that left them having been at the absolute peak of success worldwide. They ask for a new opportunity since in this time they learned a lot.

Love how speechless you were afterwards. ABBA's Voyage album made me fall in love with them more than ever. I second the recommendations of "I Still Have Faith in You" and "I Can Be That Woman". Very moving.

The big global news of this 21st century for the music world is the return of the legendary Swedish pop quartet ABBA to the recording studios after more than 35 years (the last was "The day before you came" in 1982) and the edition of new songs after 39 years (the last was "Under attack" in 1982 too) and a new album after almost 40 years (the last was "The Visitors" in 1981) Beyond that these three data are for the Guines Book of records (I believe that No Group or Singer or Artist can come close to these incredible brands), the most remarkable thing is How they returned, with what level of quality And I must say that ABBA overcame all fears, doubts and expectations Their return is shocking and his quality is still valid "Don't shut me down" (2021) it's another surprise from ABBA A pop song was expected, but there were reservations and fears for what it could be (and here I include doubts to the voices of the girls due to their age) And we find a magnificent work The beginning is with Agnetha's voice attacking with the pleasant company of the piano. What Agnetha does in that introduction is anthology, exquisite modulating and using different nuances with her mature voice. Until Benny's signature piano glint (nod to the mega hit "Dancing Queen") and ABBA's typical pop song is with us, with the fans, because the lyrics speak to us. and Agnetha assumes that decoding of almost four decades and gives us her beautiful voice as the strings grow and lead to a memorable chorus with Frida reliving the historic third voice of ABBA But it doesn't end there, the second part adds hooks and a xylophone is added to the bells (a nod to the marimba in "Mamma Mía"), and the pre-chorus has more force with Agnetha and Frida and the violins anticipate the elevation to a chorus triumphant final anthology reminiscent of his greatest hits And it ends, like the begining, with a soft and sweet Agnetha voice and piano melody (nod to "Thank you for the music") now we have the new album "Voyage" since last November 2021, with four nominations to Grammys awards 2023 (two for album and two for these song) and one more nomination the year before to the other single "i still have faith in You" that you should react to the official video is so emotional and the new ABBA Concert in the new ABBA Arena at London (with ABBAtars of Themselfes) Thank for your great reaction and for Your respect to ABBA music see in next ABBA vídeo GOD bless You my best regards from Buenos Aires Argentina 🇦🇷 South América

As someone else has commented, this song came out at the same time as "I Still Have Faith In You' as the lead singles from their last album 'Voyager'. The key thing to recognise about this song is that it was tied in with their virtual ABBAtars and the subsequent virtual concert experience that is still running. When they're talking about being 'uploaded' and 'now and then combined', yes they're talking about life experience and how that could impact the relationship mentioned in the song (whether that be with another person or with ABBA's audience) as well as referring to the fact that they're about to appear in a new form to their audience as ABBAtars. I've seen the Voyager experience in London when I was there last and, like everyone else who has seen it, my mind was blown. You actually forget that you're watching virtual versions of the band and just get sucked into the experience, walking away feeling like you've just truly seen ABBA. It's also worth noting that their music is written by the two guys; Bjorn and Benny. In fact, all of their hits were like that... which is kind of sadistic when you think of songs like 'The Winner Takes It All' and then getting your ex-wife to sing it.

I guess u are non-European.? Here in Europe ABBA is a stable culture royalty since decades no matter their almost 40 years of hiatus. This song is also a touching step towards their fans, testing the waters after so many years of being 'non-active'.A kind of a love letter they sent to us who had deadly missed them. This brief one-shot comeback was done due to huge public demand that progressed and matured over the years till it happened. We're greatful and love them even more.

You HAVE to listen to their song from the same album VOYAGE called i still have faith in you. Frida sings it and it is incredible. I prefer that one. They've had a new concert too. They built a whole special arena in London for it. It is done using avatars aka abbatars. They look so real!!!! Not holigrams. The voices are theirs. They spent months in motion catching suits with 120 cameras. Even capturing their blinks. At the end of i still have faith in you you can see the abbatars. Please wstch

Not always.Well actually Bjorn stated (as featured in their live BBC Sept ;21 VOYAGE interview)about 'I still have faith" that when he listened Benny playing the melody of it he thought this 'had to be about us"(A.B.B.A.).So he wrote the words to this right upon their actual glorious course plus their personal affairs and the state they finally came to be,reuniting again. It's self reflective.'Lyrics on 'Shut" also hint a message to us fans.
