Abba were heavily criticized during the 70s of doing music only for the money, so they released this song. Well played Abba, well played. Her voice is amazing. And so are those backing vocals by Agnetha. Fantastic song.

Wow!That's was double pleasure!Thank U David! That classic was no1 in Germany for 5 weeks if i'm not mistaken.I love the way Frida is acting there.Lyrics are really sarcastic and some kind of an answer to the ones who 'blamed" them for getting rich after the massive amounts of records they were selling. But let's not forget that all 4 members refused to leave Sweden and become tax exiles despite the huge taxes charged(about 80% i think) and remained to the country they loved leading a rather ordinary life without the extravagant luxuries and tastes other rock superstars and celebrities use to do ,especially last decades.

Hello dear GivenToe , so nice to see you again reaction to ABBA songs in our ABBA Journey and thanks again for doing "two for the price of one" (tittle as ABBA song from 1981) "Money money money" (1976) it is a very good song in a different musical style, cabaret type, set in another era "Money money money" is the single that followed "Dancing Queen" and reached # 3 in the UK, #1 in Australia and several European countries. It is a totally different song from its predecessor "Dancing Queen" and also from its successor "Knowing me knowing you" This is the versatility of ABBA, they go from genre to genre, as well as from success to success The song lends itself very well to the brunette Frida's lower voice, the choruses are sharper in contrast (and very catchy) The instrumentation is excellent The official video is one of ABBA's best, very creative, and the favourite of the film director, Lasse Hallstrom it shows Them in fashion situations and also with their famous kimonos But a few months before ABBA premieres the new official lyric video of "Money money money" and next, the live perfomance at Japan 1978 is again fantastic ABBA did three songs live to Japan TV: "S.O.S.", "Money money money" and "Thank you for the music" at the end all these songs have an orchestra behind, it gives more power to the songs and the live vocals of Frida & Agnetha are outstanding I hope to see you soon with more ABBA songs My best regards to You from Buenos Aires Argentina 🇦🇷 South America

ABBAMAN.... This song is by far is one of Frida's best vocal deliveries I have never seen the live version before. Thanks for sharing that. Back to Tommy for a second I've always wondered why he sang it from the female perspective he could have sang I bet she wouldn't fancy me instead of I bet he wouldn't fancy me. Still one of Abbas best songs ever and I think the arrival album what's a big turning point in their sound the Abba formula so to speak😊

ABBA were going through their absolute Imperial Phase when this was released. They could do no wrong . Hit after hit and such variety, SOS, Mamma Mia, Fernando, Dancing Queen, Money Money Money, Knowing Me Knowing You in succession with more hits to come in late 1977/early 1978.

"Money Money Money" is for me one of the "never get's old" Songs from ABBA, it is in my Opinion not so "DISCO-esque" like other Songs from ABBA, like as the version from Tommy Johannson you can see, that with liitle variations and more Drums and Guitars it shines like a new Penny ;-). and you are so right: the Bass-Line in the Live Version from JApan is sooo groovy and very tight played.

Hello! In Sweden, ABBA was not so accepted as a serious music group to be reckoned with. They were more appreciated abroad than at home. Much depended on how Swedish society at large viewed people who earned a lot of money. It was simply ugly and in the music industry it was considered that you could not compete in music and earn mony. Melodifestivalen was not that popular at the time and many people boycotted the group ABBA. If you look at the ABBA hysteria in Australia before the concerts in 1977, you can see the group members are a little shocked by the overwhelming reception of the large number of fans and the hysteria they created. They had not experienced anything similar in Sweden and here they were also mocked by some music artists at their concerts. Even on TV! The music movement, the Swedish music movement or the progressive music movement, in contemporary parlance most often referred to as "proggen", was a Swedish musical phenomenon, strongly influenced by the late 1960s youth revolts such as the '68 Left, the American hippie movement, and for many also Swedish folk music . This movement, which had its heyday in the first half of the 1970s, was very heterogeneous in terms of genre and originally aimed to promote the various forms of music that commercial record companies did not perceive as economically interesting, but over time came to characterize an increasing left-wing politicization. People who perform or listen to music related to the movement are usually called ”proggers”. So, to "give back", they created a song about money. Excuse my bad English! Greetings Swedish ABBA fan
