Modesty always assuages the lack of self love unsuccessful people battle. It isnt the responsibility of others to make you feel better because you havent achieved their level of success and self expression. Its actually ok for successful people to be comfortable with their success without having to fear the jealousy reprisals and resentment of others expecting modesty. You cant equalize that which is not equal no matter how you try and attempt to fuel herd mentality on the subject.

What great, great footage! Nice to see them all there, talking so clearly as well. Frida looks amazing. That is just another thing I admire ABBA for, how deep some of their later stuff was, for instance their "The Visitors" Album, and the lyrics are immense.

I think you just like a good argument! I think she had a really good vocal range. I do think Frida's voice was a bit prettier and had more depth, but Agnetha had a pretty voice. I think it was a pure voice. She certainly could hold a tune and had at least a 3 octave range. She didn't need any special effects to make her voice work - no voice modifiers to make her sound in tune (like some of them use today - naming no names, Ashlee Simpson...)

Although they had a decent understanding of English, the two girls quite clearly were not comfortable being interviewed in the language at that time. Maybe Molly Meldrum's quick-fire interviewing style further unnerved them. Maybe a bit jet-lagged still? Agnetha is happy to let the boys do most of the talking. And Anni-Frid, so confident on stage, looks really nervous here.

yes, he made no allowance for the fact this was not their language, no wonder they looked nervous. I would have been terrified-- imagine someone of their stature saying something wrong by mistake-- they had to be very careful. They did remarkably well.

Even being interviewed in Swedish, the girls were always far more reticent than the guys. It had nothing to do with the language.

abba and the beatles are 2 very diffent things - abba fantastic pop band with well written songs and music - the beatles were a rock n roll band that paved the way for pop music and were the real first boyband. there songs and song writing are legendery. to this day the beatles on roof playing get back is awesome.

Oh snap! They aren't "better" just different. I challenge any of those very talented singers to write and sing songs in a language they barely understood. As I said before, without Abba, she probably wouldn't have been known outside of her country. With Abba, she was part of a creative force. (Joan Baez was really something, wasn't she?)

Fridas mother was Norwegian and her father was a nazi German soldier in occupied Norway.German soldiers were told to fratanize with Norwegian women who fit the arayian race profile and have as many arayian children as possible. Technically lebensborn children. Often these children were taken to Germany to "germanize" them and adopted out. When Germany lost the war Norway turned on these children. They were ostrocised, institutionalized, experimented on, etc. Their mothers often had their heads shaved and called German fratznizers. It was lucky Frida got out. It wouldn't have been pleasent for her. She grew up only knowing Sweden.

She was born six months after the end of the war in Europe, There was no Lebensborn program in Northern Norway during her mothers pregnancy and her parents had no dealings with that organisation anyway. But having a German soldier father meant she and her mother faced the same hostility. Anni-Frid was still a baby when taken to Sweden. She has always identified as being Swedish and had a Swedish passport from a young age.

LOL. Yanno, you have to take into consideration the timeframe here. Back then, "the machine" around these people didn't exist to the degree that it exists today. Now they have personal trainers and protein shakes that get their bodies hard, and makeup artists to hide the flaws, and photoshop to elongate slim down... but that wasn't so back then. You really can't compare. She had a pretty face and a nice little figure. Definitely better than average.

If they only knew then what most of the world knows now, that the Beatles had a LOT of help writing their tunes... and of course sit Benny down beside Lennon at the piano -or guitar for that matter-- and they'd soon find out who is the more talented musician-- as for the girls voices compared to the Beatles-- well, that hardly needs mentioning who comes out on top there. As for writing the music, no George Martin lurking in the background there-- it's been just Benny all the way with input from the others, and the world is finding out how complex so many of their songs are ... and of course now they've hit and are exceeding 400 million record sales. Those are just the facts.... but I know B and B would not claim that status for themselves.

Well now you are comparing apples and oranges. Of course there are many singers who have better vocals than Agnetha. I certainly can't argue. But your argument was that her voice was just average. I don't agree. I think it was above average for the octave level alone. There are many singers with better voices, and many who can't hold a candle to her. It's a bit of an irrelevant argument.

Not Neil. He talking about getting a well known American songwriter to bring attention to their group. That is want Bjorn is referring to. At that time nobody would give Sweden the time of day. The industry would toss their recordings away because they were from Sweden, not from America, UK, etc.... The Americans and Brits had a monopolistic filter and it was hard to get beyond their monopolistic control. ABBA busted it all up.
