Fridas voice is like velvet.. depth, clarity and emotion right through it... Listen in to her solo albums after ABBA.. she is like a bandaid on a soul :) Both Ladies are world class vocalists.. until this day you identify them... ABBA is nothing without both their voices.. Fun fact.. Agneta and Frida worked out their harmonies themselves..:) If it goes for every song- i dont know.. but for most. Maybe a better ABBA-historian knows more :) Björn and Benny said themselves in the interviews for the comeback that as soon as they heard the first song being played for them they immediately started working out the harmonies...

I love every ABBA album. Not one bad ABBA song exists for me. I think a lot of people don’t realize how actually complex and intricate their arrangements were. Think of how many ABBA songs have this percussive vocal delivery. Money money money, Gimmie gimmie gimmie, Sup-p-per troup-p-per, Take-a-take-a chance-chance....Bjorn wrote many of their songs in this way. Chiquitita was originally called "In the arms of Rosalita" but it wasn't percussive enough so it became Chiquitita. During rehersals for Mama mia he was adamant that Mama mia be sung almost robot like.

The song is beautiful and very personal. Here is link kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJrcomupaqyZbpo

I would disagree that it is not on par with the ones mentioned.. It is top notch ABBA. I am a song writer myself and often see that certain type of songs on complete albums that have minor major harmonics or Augmented 4ths tend to not be favourites. I would look into it again because you have awesome reactions and a great intelligence in your observations. But ABBA is new and fresh to you and you are just discovering their magic. This song reminds me of the kind of harmonics and chord musings of STYX.. Of course in a different genre

hey Dereck, I love your videos! Back in the day, we brought albums and singles home to our friends to show them what touched us. Those days are gone and that is exactly why anybody are watching your videos. So thank you for bringing those emotions back because youtube reactions is our alternative right now and I want you to know that we really appreciate it. But honestly I have to say you missed an important detail here. In the intro, right when the beats comes in... Agnetha's voice DESTROYS THE SKY at 3:06. And you can tell it's her real voice. Still to this day, nobody really appreciates the virtuosity of these guys it seems. Yes, ABBA is nothing without Frida. But Agnetha is the very best singer in popular music of all time. Yes I'm looking at you Michael Jackson and David Bowie and Ann Wilson and Freddie Mercury. Deal with it. She has absolute control in such a high register, it's beyond the dreams of any challenger. Wanna change my mind? Fine. I challenge you to do a reaction to something more challenging for the singer. But you shouldn't do it because I can still "gotcha" because the Beatles are the one band that has as complex chord structures as ABBA that were also hit records. I'm a classically trained musician from Norway and I've beeen chasing the "perfect pop" ever since I heard "one night in bangkok" by B&B and "beat it" by MJ when I was five years old (born in '78). I actually think we've been getting pretty damn close in Norway in the past decade. You may want to check out Sigrid, Aurora and Susanne Sundfør.

This is the last song on the original LP's side one, Dereck 😊 (...and I love it 😁). An overarching aspect that I love about the 'Voulez-Vous' album is that, while it tends to be viewed as their 'disco' album, a lot of the disco type songs are interspersed with so many other genres of music, and it's that tailoring from B&B's production that I feel helps lift and showcase the disco songs, rather than if all the disco tunes were put together, or indeed: if it was a complete disco album only. Cheers from Australia 👋😃🐨

Unfortunately, I found out not long ago that abba were recording artists when they did music together (sounded better recorded anyway). Not a bad thing being a recording artist, I just had another expectation. So most performances were playback I would think. Right? They had the look and the sound, making them successful artists.
@Lisa-M3 жыл бұрын
A lot of artists made just playback performances at this times. Also in their record versions Frida and Agnetha partially sang the lead and the backing vocals of one song at the same time. That is something you can't do live.
@creatinotionchannel26803 жыл бұрын
The performance they did was with the audio from the album - they lip synched. They were very particular about live performances. If they did them they really wanted them to be excellent - like on their tours.
