I think it might be fair to say that Benny has had the most successful post-ABBA career. The BAO is incredible and absolutely smashes the charts in Sweden.

its really hard to pick out a favourite. theres so many brilliant songs. lts great, that benny found his way to musical and classic music after abba. l really love chess. and anthem is one of my absolute highlights. l always have to fight tears when l listen to it. its just so emotional, especially the josh grobham version. thank you for the music, benny andersson. and a fine pre-christmas time to everyone here.

I wouldn't know where to begin with a favourite composition Benny had made so many and in so many styles. I saw BAO in London and since then have loved listening to them, I got some Hep Stars and realised I had heard some of those songs years ago on the radio, I like those a lot as well, His music is surely up there with the greatest composers and will be remembered to the end of our time.

Benny is a musical genius without a doubt. In terms of versatility I think that still schwedish melancholy is the connection. by now the world is acknowledging that ABBA had a happy sad sound, so sadness or melancholy was always a part of his compositions, or mostly, so i still think there is a connection in his apprach to most of the melodies he did. Master of comforting sadness of comforting melancholy. Not as dark as Russian music, not as bright as Italian so typcally Swedish.. imo.... a special combination you might find only in the the music of Grieg. Benny for me is like a modern Grieg.

Benny being acknowledged with Bjorn as one of the most prolific songwriting teams is well overdue. I’m now getting into Benny’s catalogue & enjoying them, the classical compositions are up there with the best. Here in Australia, it was great to see Benny’s Piano album in the top 20. Kristina Live In Carnegie Hall with English versions of the musicals songs is one of my favourites. Great songs, shame it hasn’t had the same success worldwide. Yes Benny is indeed a master, great video BB…Thank you..

Wonderful overview. For me, some other highlights include "Bonder på havet" from KFD (the piano melody from 00:48 - 01:36 feels to me like another which could be developed further into another piece of music just as Kyssen became ISHFIY), "Chess" from its namesake musical (especially the "på Svenska" recording), Trolksa, P.S., Godnattvisa, Brudmarsch... such moving pieces of music. Nobody does it like Benny!

I love his work so much and it would be impossible to choose just a few, but I will mention one; The Day Before You Came. Both the album version, and the piano version. The piano version absolutely high lights the beauty of the melody, the melancholy feeling, the story telling even with no words at all. To me, that song has something almost magical. But then again, that`s what Abba is; pure musical magic at it`s purest. Perfection. And I absolutely love how versatile he is. Happy birthday, Benny. And thank you again, BB.

I would pick "Arrival," one of the most beautiful pieces of music I have ever heard. It's both somber and uplifting, which is a really rare thing to accomplish in a piece of music. He's so tremendously talented as are the others. I am so happy that I discovered ABBA at their peak (imagine hearing "Fernando" for the first time on the radio and falling in love with the group!) and even LUCKIER to have gotten to see them live in concert! I always find it strange when other fans can't connect with Benny's pre and post ABBA work. The same with his three colleges to be honest but, I do get how the magic errupts when the four come together. However, without the pre~ABBA work, ABBA itself may never have happened and without the Post~ABBA work, its hard to imagine the foursome coming together again for Voyage. Anyone who's never bothered to listen to any of the work either side of ABBA's 10 years is missing out on some amazing pieces of music. I really can't list all the outside ABBA work that I love listening to but, with much of Benny's work, once you learn to disguard the idea of genres, its easy to connect with the melodies be then the rock 'n' roll style of the Hep Stars, of the folk and dansband strains of BAO. The man is simply a genius and I would personallly highly recomend Storm approachings fantastic "Andersson & Ulvaeus chronology" videos to see how much variation Benny has covered since his early days.

Benny plays his ABBA songs on his album "Piano", but there are still many beautiful songs on it, which makes me wonder why Björn cannot convert one of these songs into ABBA songs, so the world is turned upside down. "Arrival" was also made into a beautiful song in "Time" sung by Frida and B.A Robertson, wouldn't that be nice for the fans?

You could assess why few extended remixes have been officially released, how influential ABBA have been to DJs and dance music and how fans and indepent producers have made their own fan remixes. The remix is one area that they haven't officially explored and I think there's a market amongst their fans for official remixes, particularly extended versions.

Sometimes I think because Abba is "pop" and it so easily grabs you, the complexities and greatness of the music and the lyrics are missed or overlooked.
