The beauty about ABBA is that they can mix minor chords andf major chords masterfully and produced an instant classic song which people still enjoy listening today and perhaps for the next 100 years.

Each Abba single was different to its previous.According to one of the guys, that was a policy they got inspired from The Beatles. This pop genred classic has been praised by a couple of big rock celebs. It's production is like a sonic elevaltor.

Even when the song is sad a lot of the time the music is upbeat. That’s what I always liked about ABBA. Great reaction. 👍🏾😁

I'm always disappointed when it is the official video and not the stage/TV performance which was much better for this song. Part of ABBA's success was their stage presence without being at all showy, pure charisma of the girls and they sounded just as good live. Thank you for reacting to it all the same.

About the Video... ABBA was quite early releasing music videos, this was early to mid 70's, much experimentation, effects were practical, or standard transitions used in television. The director of this, and most ABBA videos, Lasse Hallström, became rather famous later on. He directed "What's Eating Gilbert Grape", "The Cider House Rules", and "Chocolat" among other movies.

First comment here! so nice to see you with another reaction to ABBA songs specialy because these is my favourite ABBA song of all times, 'The Masterpiece' for excellence between more ABBA masterpieces "S.O.S." (1975) has a story It was one of Their first recordings after the greatest success of "Waterloo" in Eurovisión, just four months later, in August 1974. (exactly 50 years ago these week) But it waited almost a year for its release, in June 1975 at Sweden, September 1975 at UK and US (the next singles after Waterloo was, in these order: Ring Ring (re-entry), So long (at 1974), and "I do I do I do I do I do", and finally "S.O.S." when " "S.O.S." have your chance to be a single, it picks at #6 in U.K. and #15 in U.S. being Their second hit in both countries at the same time, and six #1 (including Germany Australia) and more Top 10 in several countries of all continents and after these, ABBA had 18 Top 10 consecutives in UK between 1975/1982, for example: Mamma Mía, Fernando, Dancing Queen, Take a chance con me, Chiquitita, The winner takes it all, Super trouper etc "S.O.S." in less than 200 seconds is a gem, a Masterpiece! The transitions from the dramatic opening (a dingy piano and a cracking voice of the blonde singerAgnetha) to a powerful rock beat with catchy pop chorus in the middle are brilliant ABBA marked an era in many ways One was the musical leadership of its beautiful and lofty female vocalists as the center of attention Another was the use of contrasts, such as sad lyrics with catchy melodies and harmonies And their recording tecnique "wall of sound" gives ABBA more powerfull ABBA, as in its time BEATLES, left an unforgettable mark on several generations It is good music that lasts and stays alive and well Thank you very much for your reaction; I hope to see you soon in next ABBA songs My next suggestion Is "Fernando" (1976) with the brunette singer Frida in lead voice My best regards to You from Buenos Aires, Argentina 🇦🇷 South América

Versatile Diversity is an exciting ingredient in Abba's legacy. Also the 'happy-sad" air is smth very common in their songs. It's in their Nordic nature as Bjorn had stated.Even in their utempo 'Mamma Mia" that you reacted before this you can dance to its seemingly happy go lucky sense but lyrics ain't happy really. It's about a problematic if not kinda tormenting love affair that involves cheating and 'no-way out" addiction.Just read the lyrics.

Yes, Abba perfected the melody is uplifting but the lyric is sad. They do it like no other. But it is the "Hooks" that bring people back to them after 50 years. There is no "Hook" like an Abba "Hook".
