Europe was formed in the late 70's in Sweden by singer Joey Tempest (real name Rolf Magnus Joakim Larsson) and released their debut album 'Europe' in 1983 after winning a contest for a record deal... It was followed by 'Wings of tomorrow' in 1984 w/ John Norum (guitar), John Leven (bass) and Tony Reno (drums)... They did well in Sweden, so Europe was signed internationally by 1986. 'The Final Countdown' was Europe's international debut in 1986, the single breaking big internationally and the album sold 3x platinum in the US w/ Mic Michaeli (keyboards) and Ian Haughland (drums) added to the line-up... The 80's arena rock sound made Europe a sensation w/ hit singles - 'Rock the night'... the ballad 'Carrie'... 'Cherokee'... 🤘🤘🔥🔥However, guitarist John Norum left the band complaining about Europe's commercial sound and Kee Marcello (guitar) did the tour and joined the band... Joey Tempest became famous for his high octave vocal performances and one of the best 80's singers. Unfortunately, the world expected a 'Final Countdown Pt. 2'... and that didn't happen; it was impossible to follow up the success of 'The Final Countdown'... Europe released 4th album 'Out of this world' in 1988 and although it sold platinum in the US, none of the singles had the same impact - 'Superstitious' ... the ballad 'Open your heart' (re-recorded from 'Wings of tomorrow') ... 'Let the good times rock'... Europe were planning a huge US tour in 1989 after touring the world but when the time came, the album had dropped off and the tour never happened. Europe tried again w/ 5th album 'Prisoners in Paradise' in 1991... but 90's grunge/ alternative rock decimated their popularity by 1992 and Europe split up that year. The band did reunite to play New Years Eve 2000... but Europe finally reunited in 2004 w/ the 'Final Countdown' line-up (Tempest/ Norum/ Leven/ Michaeli/ Haughland) releasing the album 'Start from the dark'... Europe has toured since and released several studio albums but they are still in demand mainly for their 80's albums. They only got to tour N. America once in the last 2 decades.

It’s weird when you talk about different “versions” of songs. You have “The Final Countdown” by the band that WROTE and composed the song, Europe, and you have covers. I’m not a fan of covers. Those are for people that can’t write their own music. 😂 You ask “Did you like this version “, about the ORIGINAL SONG AS COMPOSED BY THE ARTIST. They made THEIR SONG exactly what they wanted it to be. That’s where the “art” in artist comes in. Theirs isn’t a “version” it is THE ORIGINAL! 😂
@barsandbarbells20225 ай бұрын
Hey bro, because you would like to get picky. Here's the definition of the word "version" - a particular form of something differing in certain respects from an earlier form or other forms of the same type of thing.
@7Rendar5 ай бұрын
You know, many times artists release updated VERSIONS of their own songs. Remasters, remixes, acoustic, guest appearances etc. What are they if not VERSIONS of the same song just like covers are? It's fine to not like covers but to say there are no versions is ridiculous. Metallica, arguably of the largest and most successful metal band ever, has covered an Elton John song - they now can't write their own music anymore? Ridiculous take.

The complex has both an indoor exercise facility (running track, et al) and a large double gym. The double gym is the specific spot where the cameras and stage were for this video. This video contained footage shot during the live concerts on those 2 days, but also some stuff shot during soundchecks. It's why you see the lead singer, Joey Tempest, wearing 3 different color jackets (white with black shoulder arrows, black with white shoulder arrows, and red with black shoulder arrows) in here. You guys do a great job and one of the things I appreciate is that you are both honest about not liking certain things- parts of songs or arrangements. I saw them live in Sweden in 1986 and '89, but then moved on and discovered The Cure, The Smiths, Depeche Mode, Bowie, Oasis, Blur, Radiohead etc. This is one of those songs that will still be played after its composer (Joey Tempest) is gone, though. A classic!
