another comment, about Agnetha yes, Agnetha is the best representative of Swedish beauties women (in this video she was 32 years old) and although she was noted for having "the most sexiest bottom" in the world of rock & pop music, for me, She has a nostalgic and melancholic air on her face, with which she best expresses and transmits emotions. (her classmates from ABBA have said about Her that She is the best storyteller) and even today Agnetha is my "platonic love" for more than 40 years but I am honest and I think that objectively Frida is even more beauty (here she was about to turn 37)

One of my top favourites, please in your own time watch the Official video it is a must. Its so hauntingly captivating, with an air of mystery like the song portrays. Frida is amazing as usual with her operatic background vocals. Little Eva is sick again but thanks again for the shoutouts. (P.S. I see you reverting to reading the lyrics again lol)

Hey Helen great to see you here as always and sending well wishes little Eva's way hope she gets well soon. Me and the lyrics and old habits lol. I really enjoyed watching the video too the official video is such a beautiful yet sad haunting reflection and depiction of a lonely life and the motion and routine one goes through in that situation. This was a genius piece of art they created

how are You? so glad to see you very well I'm in my breakfast too, as always in our classic ABBA Sundays "The day before you came" It was the last ABBA song recorded (until the new album "Voyage") although it was not the last single (it was the next, "Under Attack") It was one of the last three that barely entered the Top 30 in the UK, a low expectation for what ABBA was used to This is one of the last performances of ABBA as a quartet, in Germany 1982, there was a lot of expectation in the audience, because ABBA was always very popular there. The beginning shows Agnetha alone, and after the first and second verses the rest of the quartet is only seen appearing on a rotating platform I prefer this live performance, with the final cut, to the original recording, which has a minute more instrumental solo (excessive for me) It was then followed by two more songs.. "The day before you came" have an official video that is also strange, but it is well achieved, in relation to the story that the lyrics tell; again Agnetha looks alone, now as an actress, the rest of the members of ABBA appear only at the end and disaggregated I understand that a lot of fans like it, it is even well ranked in the votes for the best ABBA song (it's #3 for British fans, only behind the #1 "The winner takes it all" and the #2 "Dancing Queen") I also know that is part of research and musical experimentation of the last years of ABBA I will be honest of all Their singles this wich I like the least (for me is good, but not much more, 6/7pts) Agnetha's vocal performance is the best, but She is very lonely without a classic ABBA chorus and instrumental But this song is not the style of music that I like, and Agnetha remains as a soloist That is why I prefer their other songs before, where the four members most involved are, in addition to other musical genres For example, I prefer the ABBA singles Ring Ring, So long, I do I do I do I do I do, Head over heels, Under attack (all 8pts) their others singles that wasn't Top10 in UK I think that, as now You react to the Last ABBA song recording in 1982, in the next You could react the First ABBA song recording in 1972, just ten years ago: "People need love" kzbin.info/www/bejne/mHfTY2yVYq1pqac (at these time They wasn't called ABBA, and now we are in the ABBA 50th anniversary) Thanks for your great reaction it was fantastic,so clearly and with passion and respect for ABBA songs I hope to see you soon in the next GOD bless you and stay safe best regards from Buenos Aires Argentina 🇦🇷 South America

another comment, about the recording of "The Day Before You Came" It's a fictional story, cryptic lyrics by guitarist Björn and dark music from Benny's synthesizers. It is about the daily routine in the life of a woman, until that day that changed everything for her. Although it has a sense of ambiguity, because the lyrics lend themselves to various interpretations, and that was the idea of the composers. As the story is about a routine, the melody is almost monotonous, and the song does not have ABBA's classic catchy chorus, Agnetha was asked to sing it in a routine key, not in her voice range It is said that when Agnetha go to recording her voice, she did it with the darkest and most humid room, to make it more gloomy and help her to better interpret the spirit of the song And it is also said that when she finished her part, she hung up the headphones and walked away, with the feeling that this had been the last recording of ABBA (and it was, until their return to the studio in 2017, almost 35 years later). Carl Mágnus Palm, the famous ABBA historian, says in his book that in those recordings you could perceive the internal tensions that ABBA was having, and that the ninth album that ABBA project could never be completed (until in 2021 ABBA gave us a new album Voyage) surely other ABBA fans will have more details about the song, its meaning and recording As I already said, for me it is a routine, ordinary song, good in its genre, but it is not explosive like other ABBA songs. I like the most about ABBA: their rhythm changes, their catchy choruses, their production, their complexities and contrasts, which made ABBA an extraordinary quartet, with extraordinary songs and two extraordinary female singers. (the word and the concept 'extraordinary' means precisely 'out of the ordinary') while "The day before you came" represents the exact opposite, that's why it doesn't appeal to me that much

Love this, it's such a strange song. She's listing the mundane tasks of her life the day before someone entered it so presumably he is now here, But she sounds detached and unhappy, that's the irony of the song, nobody really knows what it's about. It's six minutes, no chorus, genius.

Epic German TV show and the last in abroad (The BBC breakfast show was a few days earlier; perhaps the did still a Swedish one). Yes that was the "live" music present of ABBA in pubic. Who would have thought that this is the end? I had and have great respect: they worked at least 10 years VERY VERY hard, partly with hard headwind: released 3-4 singles and an album year per year (was common in the 60s+at the begining of the 70s, 2 children, 2 divorces ... so big highlights, but also some private and musical setbacks and disappoinments (e.g. fan+ media reactions to the album Voulez Vous and the three disco singles). That ABBA had to take a break and reflect, is only logical and even imperative for their health reasons. The Day divided the fans; it was a top ten hit in Middle Europa, not in the UK or Australia; for me a masterpiece and a predecessor of the 80s sound; later covered in the UK by Blancmange and peak no.22 or think about Erasure's ABBA revival. You should react to the second song of Show Express (Cassandra; I say; released in the 70s it would be a chart hit, but not mainstream 1982; I loved this traditional classic song and the lyrics too) and the third song Under Attack (the TV fans flip out, so touching; according to last year's interview Bjorn never really grasped why this wasn't a hit). But this TV production is worth it!
@daviean2 жыл бұрын
Hey Urs thank you for that really makes the song more logical based on what they probably was dealing with as people in private and using that as a blueprint to create this. I'll get that reaction done next week for you. Thank you as always for tuning in

HORRENDOUS….. Frida looked her worst from 1981 - at least 1990 style wise

Even though the comparison video between Jennifer Hudson vs Christian was great, i think that you will agree with me that it could have been much better. Therefore, could i please make it up to you by requesting that you do another comparison video of who sang it best between Christian Guardino singing this same song The Circle of life using the same performance on American Idol 2022 vs Willie Spence also singing his cover version of The Circle of life on Disney night on American Idol last year 2021 vs Dennis Le Gree also singing his cover version of The Circle of life during the Singoffs of the Voice Senior next please?In addition to giving your opinion i would love for you to give each performance a score. I would love for you as an added bonus to change things up a bit by declaring your top two and then explain the reason why you gave the overall winner of this comparison the edge over the second placed singer. Hopefully this should a much better match up. Finally as you will again see that the plane field is once again level. Therefore i would love for you to objectively listen to, and enjoy all three performances and make a judgement based on how they make you feel in the moment and how they delivered the song in the moment.

To me the monotonous life she is living might be glamourous and exciting, going about her daily business life like anybody else until someone came into her life and make it more bitter and changed it on a different course, with children she had now with the person who may have left her and now coping to bring up the children on her own..OR another alternative is that the person in her life might now bring her more happiness when she was living previously...a very conflicting song with no chorus just playing the downbeat emotion..a masterpiece of ABBA
