That's because the director who made this video worked alongside the group, and they had good ideas of where to translate the audio into a visual form. Also, this was made with good old fashion 35mm film, which can be scanned up to 6k/near 8k resolution if possible. So if ten more years pass, we could possibly start to see more 8k scans of the film but that's about as far as it will go. I can't imagine scanning the film at another higher resolution than 8k to be precise. 16k is just crazy. But the song, good old fashion pop hits that make your foot tap no matter what day or hour of the year it is.

Abba's production always was immaculate. As I remember, that were Björn and Benny- they wrote most of the material and...oops!! Michael Tretow a.o. did the production. My bad. I believe, that their authenticity- though often a bit frumpy and stiff, which has it's own charm, is what made them so HUGE. It has a bit Phil Spector- wall- of- sound in it. It appeals to many ears, no matter where you're from. Universal. Will be remembered for hundred years or more- strange idea, btw, that there might be some day in the future, where ABBA is looked at as classical music😂...or even the whole "popmusic" will be a nearly forgotten area...aaargh!! Happy I won't be there.😮😮😮😂❤

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Anni-Frid, though was the model. During her EMI Sweden and TV days, 1967-1972, she drew lots of attention for her looks and fit body and started modeling. Re: vocal talent and stage talent Anni-Frid is the one that garner's respect from the music community, past and present. She was identified in grade school her vocal talent. In 1956 she took to the stage after being elected Children's Day Princess. She swept the talent hunts. From 1956-1958 she was on stage performing in lots of charity events. In 1958, she turned pro, age 13, when she became "legal". She had already earned respect from music pro's and they hired her as soon as possible. Frida at age 13, was making her own way. Fronting bands and orchestras, too include 'Anni-Frid Four' / 'Anni-Frid & Gunnar Trio', 1963-1966. Frida has won best vocalist awards as a child, pre-teen, teen and adult. In 1964 she won a national level best vocalist award. In 1967, her big break - National Best Vocalist, which she appeared on National TV hours after her win. She became known nationally for her stage and TV performances. Re: Agnetha She actually started her music ambition as a writer. Pre-teen she decided to become a singer. She became Nationally known, not from stage or vocal awards, but via a record label. She was a record label generated pop star. In her teens she had fronted a local band. She graduated HS and took a job as a phone operator at a car dealership. Meantime a record label heard a tape of the band she was with...and Agnetha had a vocal on the same tape. The record label thought she had a nice voice... He contacted her and cut a record.... This is how her pop career started, record label generated and marketed pop star. ________ For ABBA's background and how they become a foursome, read: ABBA: Bright Lights Dark Shadows The Real Story of ABBA by Carl Magnus Palm ** The girls vocal abilities are discussed. Frida gets lots of attention and praise from the ABBA team and her peers that goes back to her grade school days. Benny, Bjorn and Michael Tretow -- ABBA's engineer, considered Frida a master vocalist. ** Carl is ABBA's historian. He knows more about them than anybody else on Earth.

The focus back then was on the quality of the SONG and the MUSIC. Even MTV had not yet been discovered when ABBA did their videos....or whatever people would call it back then. They were just very simple and basic skits or images to go along with the song. Years later it became officially called videos. Each ABBA song was its own little musical masterpiece. The guys wrote the songs and the girls sang them to perfection. And it was done for the love of the music. Now today....well...it's an entirely different game for an entirely different world. I'm so grateful my parents introduced me to ABBA at around age 10 or 11. In just over a month I will be 53 and still loving these people and their music. And I've been absolutely thrilled to pieces (and in tears) over their present return! How absolutely wonderful!!

@@rodneybaer4324 I know perfectly well what years you are talking about and what kind of music you are referring to. @rodneybaer43243 жыл бұрын
Their choice to "cone back" is genius because, like with everything else, they do it with their heart and with CLASS. Knowing ABBA and having followed them as I've been since age 11, (I'm now almost 53!!) this return has absolutely nothing to do with money $$$ or attention. They're doing it because they're artists...and old age doesn't change that. And like Benny and Bjorn already stated...they felt they had something to say...and something more to give. They may be ultra modest and humbled by their own success...maybe even a little dumbfounded by their own popularity....but they also damn well know how much they are loved and missed. They've never tried to be anything other than ABBA. They are as original and one-of-kind now as they were in the mid 70's and into the very early 80'. Those two amazing men are gifted writers and musicians. And a true writer never stops writing and a true musician never stops playing. Even when people stop listening. Don't expect so terribly much out of the new songs. They are both unique and outstanding songs....but it's in the original tradition of ABBA. And that's part of why we love them so much...even after all these many years. I am so very excited, grateful and emotionally moved over all of this. The past 3 days have been exhilarating as I listen to and observe everything ABBA. This is literally a global event in terms of music. I've never experienced anything quite like this. For one of the very few times in my life....I don't feel so alone. And I am so very happy for ABBA that this RETURN has been so well received!!

I enjoy most of ABBA's music, but this one is something special. I never appreciated it back in the day, as I do today. The lyrics, the layering, it's a masterpiece. I must have listened to this song a hundred times over the last year. Twice yesterday and three times today. Love it. I was born in 1960, which makes me 60yrs old. I grew up with all the best music, but ABBA is something special. Thank you ABBA for the music. Edit: I'm 63 now, and here I am, still listening to this song...and other ABBA songs. Love it.

The best vocal harmonies to ever come outta Sweden, for sure. There is a current modern day contender in an sisterly duo from Stockholm: First Aid Kit. @Scimmia The ABBA Team. Stig Anderson Anni-Frid Lyngstad Benny Andersson Bjorn Ulveras Agnetha Falkskog Michael Tretow Rutger Gunnarson Gorel Johnsen/Hanser ABBA were a self contained indie band that did everything themselves. They had no corporate music industry puppeteers or overlords. They were their own bosses. All the major American and British bands were tied to the corporate music establishment in some way. Not ABBA. The connected bands got the Award shows attention. The American Grammy people ignored ABBA, because ABBA did not "pay to play". They always remained independent. Music directly to the people. They made low budget music clips sent to TV program directors around the world. BOOM! ABBA TV before MTV. Today ABBA still owns and controls it all. They are the most intelligent run music pop/rock band the world has ever seen. Stig Anderson, Polar Music and manager gifted ABBA (core four) 50% percent of Polar Music by the mid 70's. The each owned X amount of shares. Since ABBA had no orporate music establishment overlords, the profits flowed directly to Polar Music. This music band also owned multiple companies that sheltered their money. Invested in diverse portfolio of Real Estate, Art, Oil, Finance, gold/silver, etc.... They sold the USSR records for barrels of oil. A great team of loyal people who did thier job. And no egos.

This song is so good. It has a fantastic happy, bouncy pop tune with perfect harmonies and blended rhythms that make you want to smile and dance. Yet, the lyrics tell a tragic story of lifelong rejection, desperate loneliness, and unrequited, hopeless love. Even the line, “I’m in no hurry” carries several meanings because the speaker clearly is in a hurry, but is terrified of blowing this one last chance…but maybe there was never a chance and this is all for nothing. This song grabs you and never, ever lets go.

ABBA nemá chybu. Škoda že se tak brzy rozpadly. Provázely mne celým mým mládím a nikdy na ne nezapomenu.
@chrissennfelder72497 жыл бұрын
What really differentiates ABBA from other pop acts is their attention to detail. The little "'Cause you know I've got..." line is a marvelous way to transition from verse to bridge. It adds tension to the song, while providing cover to an unexpected chord shift. Simply genius.

Not to mention the slip into a serious disco groove during that bridge. Brilliant.

ABBA are still as fresh today (2023) as they were in the 70s/80s... Timeless melodies and rifts... Arguably the greatest pop band of all time.... Note, I said POP band, no THE best because there are many other genres. ABBA songs are still filling dance floors at parties, clubs, and living rooms all over the world, with new generations of fans... The ultimate package for a pop band 👌
Love it! I'm 234 years old and this song makes me feel like I'm 89 again

My Grandma would play their Gold album every chance she gets. She’s definitely a super fan, my Grandpa on the other hand loves the Eagles and Led Zeppelin, so I grew up listening to that particular era of music which in my opinion is the best decade of music followed by the 80’s.

Where I'm from, there were phases where ABBA was cool, then not cool, then they became cool again - But recently I realized that ABBA NEVER stopped being cool - It''s US who were not cool enough to appreciate ABBA!
@FernieCanto3 жыл бұрын
Absolutely true, friend! I think the disco backlash is one of the stupidest moments in the USA's cultural history, and it hurt not only ABBA, but many others such as the Bee Gees (who also never stopped being cool). I always keep hoping that the people who know them only for Dancing Queen will eventually find out all their other songs. Dancing Queen is an eternal classic, but they have *so many* more incredible songs that deserve to be known!
