The first thing I noticed in the lyrics was the dervishes metaphor. From wiki "Dervish or darwish in Islam can refer broadly to members of a Sufi fraternity, or more narrowly to a religious mendicant, who chose or accepted material poverty." "In most Sufi orders, a dervish is known to practice dhikr through physical exertions or religious practices to attain the ecstatic trance to reach God" The physical exertion here is a dance known as 'whirling' where they spin for hours (like a hurricane), for the purpose of religious ecstasy - calm.

The lyrics are pretty cool. This is an instance of not only having arrangements of words that are open to interpretation, but also having the grammar and contextualization remain open as well, which just adds to the creativity. Thats my take, anyway. And like others have keenly mentioned below, the lyrics - like the first record - were not written by Abbath. This album sounds a lot more interesting than the first.

I am a classic Extreme Metal musician and fan and I never gave this music a chance until today...Just thought it would be another average Black Metal band by a marketing image.....Sometimes you got to not see that and just hear stuff..Now that I have heard this, I like it a lot.....Abbath has that catchy Melodic Death Dark Funeral/ Ancient feel done well like an old school Dimmu Borgir or Emperor like in its own way and I am not going to label the genre meant here when Metal is labeled that deep it goes into the critical category that has too many rules...It is nothing different then what it originates from but who cares cuz its done well.....It is good Raw Extreme Metal mainly and that is what counts the most. I like the songwriting structures here, atmospheric epic-ness and intensity....Written well....I do not know much about this and if Abbath comes from another band or is in the past or whatever. I losing track of so much Metal these days, but after all the blabbing....Abbath Is good raw Metal!!!! I like it....enough to say. Now I will do my research on who this is exactly.....Damn I feel old.
