Depth of field it is not about "3d"! It is about how deeply you see the object with sharpeness. As for what you mentioned it is about binocular vision or stereoscopic effect

I have several pairs of Steiner AF binoculars that I’ve used for wildlife viewing, which have served me well over the years. Prior to using Steiner binoculars, I used Japanese- made Bushnell binoculars. I’ve never owned a roof prism binocular but have been tempted to try a Meopta or Japanese-made binocular. Thanks for explaining the differences between the two types!

Agreed. Marine binos are my go to because they have superb resolution and excellent proofing effects for a reasonable price. It don't matter if it's bulkier hence is sturdy and other features. I would buy one any time.

Christof Classen except that revolvers are not up to date where as porro are. Optically they mostly better or up on the level for less money. Size is the main disadvantage. I wouldnt compare a normal revolver with a modern pistol or something. 6 shots vs 15+? Power depends on ammunition used

Im studying since last month... Help me if Im wrong... Whats the point of schimidt prism? As Im reading and watching, schimidt is more expensive, less light transmission needs bigger objective so heavier, less 3d view(flat). So why would someone pick this prism over any other? Just aesthetics? Seems schimidt prism is outperformed by anything

8:25 You are talking about depth of field. But the distance between the lense only change the sensation of relief. Not at all the depth of field.

An acquaintance of mine dropped his WWII British 6x30 binocular on a road whilst driving a mob of sheep. It was still perfect collimated when he picked it up and that wasn’t the only punishment it took. Practically indestructible and with a nice wide field of view. NB If you like to watch horse races, Nikon is the only company still offering a wide angle 7x35 Porro prism binocular which is the best hand held optical device for following a full field of gallopers and/or trotters. All the 6x30 binoculars on offer have narrower fields of view and are not up to the job.

I's realy false when you say that a good porro 7x42 is more luminous than most of the 8x56. Let say that the 7x42 Porro has a transmission of 100% (that's not the case). The 8x56 would need to be under 73% of transmission to be less performat. Event on a 250€ 8x56 I've mesured on an optical bench 87 % . So we can say that nearly all the 8x56 perform better in low light than any 7x42.

This is just my humble opinion. There are a lot of great Binos made for a good price. I would get Binos anywhere from 8x42 to 10x50 in roof prism. You don’t want anything significantly big and heavy. I bought the Vortex 10x50 Diamondback HDs for hunting. Comes with a great chest mounted case and harness and has a great warranty. Decent quality for the price and is bright. I do amateur bird photography too. So comparing magnification with photo lenses, 1x power is around 50mm (Human Vision). So 300mm would be around 6x magnification power. So 8x is similar to 400mm and so forth. Also I use Steiner 10x26 BluHorizon Pocket Binos while hiking. Very light and compact.
