Thanks for this! I felt like the official spitfire walkthrough barely talked about the ensemble long patch. Dumb question but does “ensemble” mean all 5 of the strings in this library are playing at once or it’s a layered set of x number of violins, etc?

Loved your flautando melody - very nice. I'm undecided what to do. I hear so many seemingly great vsti's on youtube and when I purchase them I've often been underwhelmed when I come to use them. I know some people have been critical of this product and it's difficult to determine whether or not these are just 'haters' comments/ or whether there's an aspect of 'new toy syndrome' ! Anyway, it's good to hear a 'real' musicians view. Look fwd to part 3

I certainly understand your thoughts on this. I am always careful when my students want to spend money on tech.... I can't answer that for you but at the end of the 3rd video, i do give some thoughts as to how to use this kind of a library. I can afford these and write them off as a business expense and having new sounds to put in my productions is certainly helpful for me but that is not everyone's use case. Thanks for watching.

Hi Jason. Thanks for watching. My feeling is that they were made for different use cases. The Solo Strings Library has more articulations. This library has the sound of Abbey Road Studio Two and all it's technology. All the extra mic signals can really help shape the sound of these much more so than the solo strings. I think the AR2 is best suited for adding a string quartet/quintet sound to a full production. If you want to write string quartets, the Solo Strings is better. One last thing. I think the sound of the Bass on AR2 is so much better than SS or Alternative Solo Strings.

Hey Pete, I’m working on demoing out a solo instrumental piano album and I’m seeking a string library to help arrange some string parts. Since I plan to record real strings, I’m mostly just concerned about having the most flexibility in writing/arranging. Would you think Solo Strings would be a better fit since it has more articulations? Or since the album is likely to be pretty minimalistic and straightforward, would it be more valuable to have the legato capabilities of AR2 Pro? Thanks for your help!

Hi. The AR2 Pro has a very specific sound that may not be appropriate for your work. Are you going to record a string quartet with piano? If so i think i have another video comparing solo string libraries. That might help. Are these solo players or are they sections? I’m still confused, planning on buying but I already own studio strings so I don’t want another standard library and really hoping for more of a solo based sound.
