Way back when my father was in his youth he would climb up Snowden around Easter and slide back down the railway sitting on a block of ice. The ice would go on the centre channel and a foot on each rail. He and his friends would slide untill the ice fell apart. Lovely video of your climb up the mountain, it's always nice to see Snowdonia :)

Great video, Abbie! Thanks for posting. Climbed this amazing mountain in 1993. The paths were nowhere near as clear back then! The area around the summit is unrecognisable, too. Looking forward to your Crib Goch video. :-)

Fantastic weather. I've been up there three times and never been able to see more than 100 meters. Can't wait for the Crib Goch video. Did it in winter in the snow. beautiful and quiet.

Abbie you are an absolute diamond! I'm watching your Crib Goch video at the moment. I've climbed many peaks including a lot of the Black Cuillin, this ridge is on a par! I can't do them anymore due to losing sight in one eye, so no depth perception now, it makes me sad but you are now my eyes for these kind of traverses, still makes my palms sweat and my heart beat faster, bless you, go girl!! Michelle.

Great to have you back. This was the very route I used many years ago to take my two young sons up their first mountain! Since then we have hit a few hundred tops! including Crib Goch. I now show your walks to my Grand Children who get what you are doing. Please keep up the walking.

Once Covid is behind us - consider hiking the Chilkoot Trail in Alaska and Canada. It is short and not very challenging for you probably, but if you like cultural archaeology, it is rich! And beautiful mix of habitats and climates, vegetation etc. Lots of variety. Thanks for your video - it made my Monday!

Great Video Abbie love seeing your videos and your Cumbria way walk with your mum inspired me to do the Cumbria way next year in my old age

Brilliant video. This made me feel quite homesick. I will head there in the Summer of 2022, and, all being well - head up to the top of Snowdon on the train with my Mum. We have both had joint replacements so walking and climbing is not an option. However, the fact Snowdon is accessible via Snowdonia Mountain Railway is a gift. ❤ Thank you for sharing your experiences, looking forward to your Crib Goch (Red Ridge) video. Good luck.

Nostalgia for me. Thanks. I climbed Snowdon a lot in the 1990s, but have only ever used the Miners' and Pyg tracks on descents, so that was interesting. It was a lot wilder then, with the paths much less built up. My favourite ascent was the Watkin Path, and the complete horseshoe is quite a walk. Looking forward to the Crib Goch video.

Awesome Abbie, great video. Looking forward to 2022 and already planning some new adventures and you have spurred me on. I did same hike a couple of years ago, but opposite way round and sadly weather turned bad, so didn’t have the fab views you had, but I’ll be back. Thanks Abbie, great to have a walking video again from you, they are my favourite. But I did enjoy Abbie bikes Britain, but I’m more a Walker at heart. Look forward to seeing Crib Goch❤️🤪

Thanks for this Abbie, I ran the Snowdon Trail marathon a few years ago. Tough! The killer second half was running up Pyg and down Llanberis paths to finish. Remember that flat slab of rock on Pyg- it was a waterfall and the rain was horizontal! We only knew we at the top when a Marshall said run downhill now. Thanks for glorious views and commentary on what I missed! Merry Christmas, keep safe, Stay Wild!

From the other side of the Atlantic, I can report large crowds at many of the hiking spots here, as well. This seems to be an effect of the pandemic, maybe, or just a groundswell of people realizing that these places of natural beauty are here -- and no time to waste. We just need to make sure that folks are prepared and knowledgeable about how to enjoy the outdoors safely and respectfully. It's your mission, Abbie. It's coming true.

That was great! And nice to hear that everyone was respectful of the environment. How nice to find the purple saxifrage - I found some for the first time this year in BC. Lovely little flower! I hiked Snowdon on a school trip in the 80s and it was my introduction to real mountain hiking. I'm pretty sure we sheltered from a snowstorm in some of those ruins along the Miners' Track :-) Looking forward to your Crib Goch adventure!

Hi Abbie, another great vlog. Well how naive am i?? honestly i knew Snowdon was a tourist stop but i was quite surprised to see so many people waiting in line to reach the top. Why i thought it would be quiet i dont know. Also i found it surprising to see so many people just walking up the mountain in just shorts and pumps. This has certainly opened my eyes. God bless Snowdon having us lot walking all over her. Looking forward to the next vlog. Stay safe and well.

Great video Abby, I'm planning a trip to Snowdon early next year
@paulfogarty77243 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that Abby. I have a feeling if it was'nt paved and was let go back to natural instead, half those people might not be there ( though I could be wrong - look at Everest ! ) There's a beautifull 6ml walk here that runs parallel with the railway from Bray to Greystones. Back in the 1980's it was all but choked up with briars...but a great " jungle " adventure if the mood took you. Now it's well maintained and paved. I avoid it at the weekends as it is now so crowded like a city main st.

You have a new subscriber here, and just have to say that you have a real flair for doing this kind of thing, not everybody is capable of filming a hike up a mountain and make it interesting and entertaining, well done. But I introduced myself to your videos when I watched you doing Roseberry Topping, which is right on my doorstep.
