I usually can't see a difference in videos but this time I do. Your curls look much more individualized on the shingling side, in the front, and the shape is slightly different. Both look great. I'd probably rake the bback half and shingle the front and very top to grt the best of both.

Shingling side looks more defined, raking side looks fuller….to my eye. Both look beautiful💚💚💚

The silkier the texture, the bigger the difference is usually seen in shingling. Silky strands like to clump together and do so fairly easily, making more defined, shinier, longer-lasting wash n gos. The more cottony the texture the less of difference is seen in shingling. Cottony strands like to spread, which is why they make such perfect Afros. We fall on different places within the silky-cottony scale, and differentiate even more so with various sections of our hair and individual strands. Said all that to say (especially for new naturals), everyone shouldn’t expect drastic differences in shingling-it doesn’t mean anything was done wrong, nor does it indicate that certain hair types are less appropriate for the wash n gos and/or shingling. It’s all preference, and sometimes products depending on the level of hold. Everyone’s wash n go is their own unique and beautiful results, like our dear Abbie ❤️☺️ thank you for giving us an example on your hair type.

I think the shingling side looks better because it’s less frizz. The way it picks up on the camera, the raking side you can see frizz throughout the hair. But if you didn’t know you did 2 different methods, I don’t think anyone would notice 💯

On camera, the shingling side looks less frizzy and puffy. Might give you more longevity? I guess it depends on how much time you have to spend on your hair and if you really need it to last a week

it's shingling for me. I know it takes longer but so worth it because of the definition and wear longevity

I have a small section in the front & very back of my hair that doesn’t like to curl with the rest of the hair like yours in the crown 😩 for those sections, I make sure to saturate it with warm water & use a little more gel to get the curls to pop more.. curls usually define better the wetter the hair! And as far as shingling Vs raking.. I prefer raking & smoothing bc I like the way the curls look more clumped together.. Shingling takes entirely too long & for me, it doesn’t last that much longer.. TFS!! 🖤

I think the shingling side looks slightly better but both are impressive. Your hair is looking super healthy! I really need to try these products but I rarely wash n go and I'm happy with my camille rose products 💕

I notice that when I shingle I get way more definition and less frizz and a longer wash n go...I think it just depends on what your trying to achieve...

I love shingling but it takes too long lol. I keep doing the raking side to get it over with lol.

The main difference I see is slightly frizzy on the rake side
