I noticed that on the video that Liquid Rubber has produced, they lay the Geo-Textile tape down during the Primer application. That would probably avoid the extra heavy coating you had initially of the Poly that took so long to dry. It may also help saturate the tape and have it lay right onto the wood, since the primer is much thinner.

It doesn’t peel like latex paint would. Ours still looks new. But, it’s not like we’re eating meals up there. That would be a lot more chair scraping than we’re doing. So, I’m not sure how well it would hold up to daily chair scraping from adults. 🤷♀️

How many liters of Liquid Rubber were used to make 5 coats? Did the manufacturer recommend 5 coats? If not how many were recommended?

Great Video! My wife and I are looking at doing this to a small balcony. Thank you for all the links! In the beginning it looked like the product color was grey. On the final closeup it appeared white. Did that really happen or is it just the lighting? Also, how slippery is the deck after it rains? -Rick
@AbbottsAtHome4 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Rick!! It’s definitely just the lighting. The color doesn’t really change as it dries. It’s a medium grey. The deck is surprisingly not slippery. It feels like linoleum so if it was really wet and you had slippy shoes on, you might slip. But, I wouldn’t say it’s any more slippery than a wet wood deck. But, just in case, they make a textured version of this too. 😁

seems really great! wonder if it worth while to put another layer of vinyl plank. seems would be more scratch resistant than just this ruber.
@AbbottsAtHome4 жыл бұрын
I haven't seen any scratches yet. But, I know what you mean. I think some people build a floating deck over this. I like the vinyl plank idea. Vinyl planks could work, if it's sealed enough to keep water from getting under it. :)

Is it slippery when wet? I have an apt with a 150 sqft balcony/patio area sitting above the carport. I had new OSB subfloor, waterproof paper, durock and tile laid down a couple of years ago. With the recent TX rain, it keeps getting wet; water sips through grout lines and has now rotten about 2' x 3' section of subfloor. As a result, the enclosed carport gets tons of water. Wondering if I could use this on top of existing tiles, after repairing the rotten out area of course.
@AbbottsAtHome3 жыл бұрын
You can call the Liquid Rubber help line about using it over tile. I think you can, but definitely double check. I wouldn't call it slippery but water can make anything a little more risky. BUT, they have a textured version that's even more slip-resistant.👍
@azil03243 жыл бұрын
@@AbbottsAtHome Thank you for replying so fast! The current tile is slip-resistant and because my Dad stays in the apt from time to time, I don't want it to become a hazard. I will look into the texture one. 👍

@@AbbottsAtHome so the wood deck will be screwed through the rubber and plywood? Would the screw holes compromise the waterproofing?
@jakepoetzl80233 жыл бұрын
That would be a very bad idea. Nails/screws would compromise the waterproofing and standing water caught between your wood deck boards would sit there until they penetrated the plywood.
