Rose Leniha. As a kid I always took things with a grain of salt. However I always thought that reality tv was real until I started pausing scene and diving into behind the scenes. Then I realized how fake everything was. Instead of calling it reality TV just call it a TV show. If you want to entertain that’s fine but make sure your being honest with your audience. I still like dance moms but I’m finding harder and harder to find real moments vs staged/scripted moments

I really don’t understand why Abby expects every single family with kids who want to dance to come to the Abby Lee dance company a lot of parents just put there kids into dance to find something to do once or twice a week, make friends or just get some exercise not all children want to become dance stars. Maybe they choose that they want to get more serious as they grow and then they choose to go to Abby Lee but you can’t hold it against them if they didn’t choose to go into her studio in the first place. You can see it in the first few series when Brooke and Paige didn’t want to be stars and Kelly didn’t want them to be famous but Abby kept forcing them into it.
@enigma13264 жыл бұрын

Rebecca Harber 7 it’s not that she expects absolutely everyone to come to her, it is just probably annoying that people who live super close to the studio and attend a competitor studio and then expect Abby to suddenly be invested in them and get them famous. Think about it like this: imagine you get famous and then someone who has never talked to you, actively avoided hanging out with you, and never seemed interested in you suddenly wants to hang out with you and asked you to shout them out so they can get more popular or wants you to take them to special events even though they have never hung out with you before. That is what it is like. If you want Abby to make you famous, train at her studio if you are close enough and work hard, or train at the best place you can and work hard to get noticed by her.

I think the producers need to realise that a lot of the fans like the mums like Holly who are nicer and don't constantly stir the pot and that people out there might actually want to watch a dance show for the actual dancing Side note: this is a drama show but a lot of the drama today is repetitive and boring to watch like the mums phasing out Michelle and always hating on Brady. @SmittenKitten.4 жыл бұрын
@@eagann92 I'm unsure how that negates my comment. In order to come up with these scenarios, the producers have to be a little sadistic. I wouldn't ever feel comfortable putting actual children in situations that would psychologically scar them. Yes, it makes for "good tv," but these are REAL people coming up with each variation on how best to mess with real people's emotions. You have to be a sadistic asshole to be okay with doing that.
@likeabunnie4 жыл бұрын
@@SmittenKitten. exactly! Not to mention how screwed up it is to be DISAPPOINTED when people get along.... They were disappointed that the girls in dance moms were such good friends, and excited when Chloe and Maddie drama happened. Two girls' friendship of so many years was shattered, and it seems intentionally done by producers. Even if they weren't pulling so many strings behind the scenes, just think about it from the perspective of editing... There are grown adults who deliberately edit little girls/children to make them look bratty or stuck up or otherwise portray them in a bad light... I can't imagine sitting there with hour after hour of footage of children's lives and sitting down to edit it, and searching to find the clips that make them look the worst or otherwise fit into my "storyline" for their "character"... Just think about how many hours of footage they had for pyramid on dance moms, and how they decided to show clips of Brooke looking unhappy, or how even in this show (AUDC), they seem to show girl's reactions back stage that likely are out of context...even if the clips that make children look unfavorable AREN'T taken out of context, they STILL choosing to show some very unflattering footage of children's lives! Like, I think the one girl, Elisabeth, was the one who was crying and saying very upset things *backstage/in her dressing room* TO HER *MOM* after getting eliminated, and sure, that seems to be what happened in reality, but not only did they choose to follow her with the camera (which I'm pretty sure they didn't do with any of others, at least not in courage they showed), but they choose to use that footage! They had tons of hours that needed to be condensed into a 45 minute show, and had to decide the most essential parts of that footage to show, and they decided to show a girl totally heartbroken, saying stuff TO HER MOM, sobbing hysterically... I can't fathom why it would be ok to show children in unfavorable light, regardless of if they have moments that aren't ideal... Everyone has those moments, most of just don't have them captured by camera, and certainly not as children! So even if, for example, if [totally blanking on the girl's name who came for a week on dance moms and was told she'd dance with the ellites but got out on the mini team... I knew her name till I was ready to type it and now I wanna say Harlie Quinn Hahaha.... That's not it thought hehehe... Hailey? Still wrong... This is gonna bug me! :) ]... But just, imagining how *I* would feel if I were tasked with editing dance moms footage, even if I saw a bunch of footage that showed that Hailey (?) WAS frequently acting bratty, and Brooke WAS usually sulking and acting like a grumpy teenager, or Payton thinking that she was better than everyone else... It would seem really horrible for me to choose to show those girls seeming bratty, moody, or snobby, because that's how they'd be seen, and maybe if it just happened sometimes that the whole time during pyramid, brooke was looking grumpy (or at least all the use able footage), then sure, it might end up that she's seen looking unethusiastic, but it would seem pretty mean to choose to show a zoom in of her specifically, looking miserable. And if Hailey (I know that's not the right name, maybe, idk) but if she DID come in and was upset about having to dance with the minis, maybe I'd use footage of the mini's rehearing where she's not smiling like everyone else or something, but I wouldn't choose footage focusing on her specifically unless it was with her shown in favorable or neutral light. I'd know that people will believe what they see, and it would seem exploitative to showcase the flaws of a CHILD! If Payton HAD said that she thought she was better than the rest of the girls (she didn't, she'd been asked how she felt their *group* did against other groups), but that wouldn't be something that would feel ok to show to the world even if it HAD gone down that way! It just bothers me, it bugs me that people who have never met these children will genuinely say they hate one of them or that they are a brat etc... Children should be protected. I get that it's "reality TV" and that "people watch it for the drama" (I personally hate the drama, I like the dance), but even still, it's one thing to do that with consenting adults, but there's no reason to choose to show children in poor light. It would be one thing if Elisabeth had an emotional meltdown *on the stage, while they were still filming everyone*, since it might be hard to edit around if someone were screaming and sobbing as they got eliminated, but they intentionally got all of her upset on camera after she'd walked off the stage, and they not only got the footage but they chose to use the footage, too, and I don't think they even showed her again after that clip, so not only did they choose to show that, they didn't even show her calmed down, likely she hugged everyone and wished them well etc, but the last we are shown of her is likely the last thing she'd want ANYONE to see. It's just sad. Yeah, I know they are looking for views and money, but there's just a whole new level of soulless when people decide to mess with children and show them at their lowest.

i have a feeling that producers added in the callback cards in season 2 as a way to not only bring back dancers who were eliminated and create more suspense for the season, but also as a way for them to create more drama. regardless of who the card was used on it would create drama bc it means that the kid has more pressure on them but it also gives the moms more reason to fight each other. even if the mom wasn’t generally a person who created drama (like kira), it created drama since abby said she wouldn’t use the card but then used it to bring kalani back. this also furthered the narrative that kalani was abbys favorite and received special treatment. while i believe that abby genuinely wanted kalani back in the competition, i think the producers saw it a great opportunity to stir up some drama. i def could be wrong, but it’s just some food for thought

Abby is the most money-hungry person I know, without wanting take any risk: three shows, everyone in Pennsylvania has to go to her studio, all the aldc girls has to have her as manager, all the merchandise must be under ALDC... But she sent her girl only to fake competitions because she was not able to make her studio the best in the U.S.A by herself, or maybe she was able but she didn't want to work on it. And, as it that weren't enough, instead of training her students, she always picked other studio's girls to pretend that her team was the best because of her.

Psych tests are VERY common with reality shows. I'm pretty sure they're mandatory to some degree, although I'm not certain if it's competition shows only, or if non-competitive (i.e. Dance Moms) require it. Asia was almost certainly not the only contestant who was given a test. The reason they're done almost all the time is less to protect the contestants and more to protect the show from liabilities, to say they did their due diligence before casting in case someone sues them. HOWEVER, the biggest problem with these tests is that they're actually too general and too easy. There's not a lot of regulation around them. Some reality show contestants report that it is very easy to fool the tests and tell them what they think they want to hear. They fail to truly account for everything a person will experience. Again, I'm not sure if they're mandatory for docu-style, but they are for competition shows. The problem is that they're designed to protect the show/prodco, not the contestants.

What I don’t understand is why can’t we let talent speak for itself? I understand ppl like the drama and it’s good for views and money, but we’re losing focus as to what it’s really about which is DANCE! this is so stupid and fabricated it makes me sick
@MsJubjubbird4 жыл бұрын
Because then people wouldn't watch as much. These TV shows are designed to make money. Most people don't know about dance and will believe whatever the judges say- which is based on what the producers want.

I just finished watching season 2 today! The theories were very interesting to see. One thing I never understood was that nobody commented on Travis/ Tyler's abilities in season 2. Although they were good, I'm surprised they lasted as long as they did (and none of the moms pointed out their lack of technique or performance). I think that Zack had better technique and performance quality than both of them yet he was eliminated very early in the competition (I know he was up against different dancers, but he should have stayed longer).

There was also something about how Abby announced another contestant was leaving the week Kalani should have gone so she was really shocked but then they had to reshoot the scene as Abby had announced the wrong dancer to go home!
@bellarose59784 жыл бұрын
Just wondering, wasn't it also a rumor where Asia won but announced it to early so they changed the outcome? and didn't Gianna say that she was the only one who got there through the actual open call auditions everyone else had a manager or agent that put them on the show?

I realized that in Scary Sweetheart S7 many things happen.... First of all, the mums "attacking" Brynn. BUT the thing that caught my eye, is after the WHOLE competition, in the dressing room, Brynn (and everyone else) are wearing the group dance costumes. BUT when they ask Brynn and Yadie what happened backstage, they are both wearing their scary sweetheart costumes... Like WHAT??

There is a bonus scene in a season 7 special where Abby said Trinity's name instead of Kalani's for the round before the finale. The producers made her reshoot it and you can see Kalani is not as sad as you would have thought in the scene.

You should definitely check into Season 3 Episode 4. How were Maddie & Kendall’s duet scores mixed up? Why wasn’t Brooke dancing? What did Melissa actually say to Abby that got turned into her saying “she wasn’t happy about a duet with Kendall”? And why did they bring Sophia in and out so much?

i was always so confused about why zach got eliminated when elizabeth literally just did a bunch of walking and posing other than the first set of turns and he actually danced and was really good. i thought for sure elizabeth was going home and tbh i kinda didn’t like her bc of all of her temper tantrums and tears as a thirteen year old, like come on when you’re crying more than an actual six year old you know somethings wrong. also she definitely was using her parents divorce to their advantage. you can tell when other people are talking about their hardships, it’s genuine. but for her i couldn’t honestly say she wasn’t using it as an excuse.
@emmamonson40734 жыл бұрын
Omg yes! When I watched that episode I was like Elizabeth FOR SURE is going home, her combo sucked. I also believe that she really milked the divorce too. Like I understand it's traumatizing and life-altering, but unfortunately, she's not the first kid who's had to deal with their parents' divorce. And it seemed like every time she didn't do very well it was "well my parents are getting a divorce so I'm depressed and that's why I didn't dance well" excuse.

Thank you for this! I started getting very skeptical after watching one of those group challenges where one girl was eliminated for not counting correctly and starting early... I kept rewinding to watch the clip, because, as Abby said, they just had to count to 8 and then start dancing, and it was bugging me because it seemed like that was EXACTLY what the one girl had done, and she did... All of the dancers seemed caught off guard that time for some reason, and many of them started dancing or at least kind of jumped at the point that the one girl did start to do the routine, but everyone else seemed to decide to just come in together another 8 counts into it (so they started 16 counts into the song)... The girl who was eliminated and set up to look like she was super obvious and incorrect to start and continue dancing when she did, was ACTUALLY the one person who had been correct! I wish I could recall the girl who was eliminated for being correct, but the challenge had them all wearing cowboy hats I think... Does anyone else know what I'm talking about? I think 8 and 16 are pretty clearly different especially to a dancer, and that run was the only time we saw any of them have Tribble with the counts, and it wasn't just the one girl with the "false start", most of them seemed to physically indicate they should have started at that moment, I'm SURE Abby must have realized what ACTUALLY happened, yet she said the complete opposite! So after that realization, I couldn't help but start wondering if the producers didn't decide before the group challenge had even taken place, who would win that challenge, and then Abby just had to judge everyone in such a way that the predetermined winner was the one who won the challenge. It certainly doesn't seem to be based off of anyone actually attempting to judge who does the skill the best. The challenge mentioned in this video supports the same thing, because even in the video lifetime posted of that challenge, there's many in the comments who felt like trinity was the very clear winner of that challenge, and she really was.... Even if one disagrees that trinity showcased the skill the best, I'd at least argue, as this video stated, that Ally (I think is get name) only had to challenge one other person to win the challenge... So even if she should have won, it seems completely illogical to base that off of only being up against one other dancer. Anyways, idk, but I get a lot less annoyed by the judges critiques after each dance now that I've stopped expecting them to make sense hahaha.
@emmamonson40734 жыл бұрын
Agree sm, the dancer you were talking about was Mckaylee. When I was watching that challenge, I was like, wow everyone missed the cue except for Mckaylee and it was good on her to keep going even though everyone missed the count...... and then she got eliminated.
