True, but one, she's under contract and could probably get in a lot of legal trouble for disagreeing/fighting it. And two, she said she didn't know that they were hiding it from everyone. Several cast members have come forward to say that the producers purposefully kept information from them or told them certain things to stir up drama, and that's to say nothing of the times they've told cast mates to say or do something, only for them to twist the narrative later, such as the infamous incident with Payton or Maddie "volunteering" to do a last minute solo at the recital. Not saying she was in the right; just saying things are never simple when it comes to this show.

We really don't know what Maddie and Melissa were told going into that incident. We do know that they had strict contacts and the producers liked to manipulate the "reality" to create more drama. Just saying that as this creator likes to point out, there's more sides to this story than what they show on Dance Moms.

The heartbreaking thing is, if I remember correctly, Chloe and Paige's duet came in second place and the Two Sapphires duet was the only one to beat them...meaning that IF Abby had just allowed Paige and Chloe to shine, she would have gotten the win anyway. She just didn't want the CREDIT for that win to go to Chloe and Paige. She wanted Maddie and Kalani to have all the glory and win. So she basically had Maddie LIE to Chloe (ON PURPOSE) and destroy a friendship....just for spite. Because Abby is JEALOUS of a 12 yr old CHILD and she doesn't want Chloe and Paige outshining her star student. And that is truly sad.

On the You Can/Be Anything, the judges intended to score Chloe higher. Therefore, Chloe actually deservingly won. Abby was just jealous. On Two Sapphires, there was no need to enter that duet, Paige and Chloe would have won anyways, they had an amazing duet and they were fan favorites.

i think the thing that abby hated the most about chloe was that she became the fan favorite VERY quickly. during the og dance moms days at least. abby pushed so hard for maddie to be the star, but during the first 4 seasons, maddie was very overhated and disliked (mainly because of how the producers edited her). i think that's why abby slowly got angrier and meaner as the seasons went on. the fans really rooted for chloe because she was the underdog and had a very natural knack for dancing. the more abby pushed her down, the more the fans cheered her on, and i think that really drove abby crazy. the one thing abby hated the most during the show was when someone outshined maddie.

sophia jean i kind of feel like Christi focused her anger and disapproval on Maddie. I agree Chloe was treated incredibly poorly especially in her last 2 seasons on the show but christi’s arguments about how Maddie was treated differently were often hypocritical to the rest of the girls. Chloe had a lot of beautiful costumes and dances and Christi was just never happy with any of it. I get being upset about her child being abused but the rest of her arguments I didn’t sympathize too much with. If anything kelly and holly were the two moms I felt argued over genuine abuse and mistreatments without pulling arguments that were less valid into the mix.

For the aerial thing, Chloe didn't know how to do a front aerial. When they rehearsed for an Acro routine she fell. That's probably why she had to do the side aerial instead.

Even though the group dance had a big part in the Hylands leaving, I still think Two Sapphires really broke the camaraderie of Dance Moms. The cast were still a family to one another but Melissa and Maddie lied to Chloe and Christi. Even if it was planned ahead and the producers had a part, they still lied. Also Abby has always been abusive. People will just never admit it.

Sarah Olivier Melissa lied, she knew of the day of the competition. Maddie knew of the duet since the practiced it at booty camp. But she didn’t know they were competing until Abby brought in Kira and Kalani and told Maddie that they were performing. Which I assumed was around the time between when Chloe asked Maddie and when they performed it on stage

Hailey Parsons The only thing that changed is the timing. The duet may have been planned ahead of time and not entered exactly at the competition, but Melissa knew it was happening. Maddie probably told Chloe that she wasn’t doing the duet before Abby said that they were doing it. I still think that she should have said something. Melissa may have been told to keep it a secret but Maddie could have told Chloe once she knew.

Ilsen Leon I think what happened is that Maddie knew of the duet because the booty camp before season 4. Kira said in a lifetime interview that Abby told her to take her to booty camp and she can stay at Melissa’s. So I think she knew of the duet because they practiced it a booty camp. But I think Maddie assumed it was for booty camp nothing else. So when the day of the competition happens, Melissa finds out on that day and decided to go along with for reasons unknown. While I think Maddie found out sometime between when Chloe asked her and the time the wishbone duet went on stage. I think when Kira and Kalani came in Maddie assumed they were here to watch. So I think Maddie knew but last minute and couldn’t tell Chloe about it. But I agree Maddie should have told Chloe once she knew.

Hailey Parsons I think Melissa went along with it because the producers told her to. She probably would have said something. I used to hate Melissa but she probably is complicit because of the producers. I don’t believe Melissa is a bad person. She’s just willing to do anything for her kids even if it’s questionable and the producers exploited that. But I understand why Christi would call her ruthless. As for Maddie, she isn’t as bad as the show makes her out to be. I just think this whole debacle isn’t just the producers fault. Abby has a big part in destroying the happiness of Chloe and Paige that day. And it sucks because Wishbone was a beautiful duet.

To this day, I still feel like the Two Sapphires situation was handled incorrectly. They focused too much on trying to incriminate a child who’d already been groomed into doing whatever her dance teacher said than placing the blame on the two adults (even producers) who allowed them to enter Edit: I am glad they did that in their tweets later though. That's a good theory and it makes a lot of sense. I also wonder if Two Sapphires was meant to be unaired because of the music not being from the choices they could use for the show. It could also explain why they were told not to talk about it and the fact that the rules for the competition said that no dances could be added the day of. I think the producers decided to air the duet so they could add drama and maybe start fights among the kids. If that's the case, then that's just wrong.

The song used for the duet "Two Sapphires" was from a production music library, Jingle Punks. Dance Moms used three Music libraries I think; We3Kings, Jingle Punks, and Extreme Music. When Season 8 started, they stopped using music from Jingle Punks and We3Kings. From what I have seen, season 8 is only using music from Extreme Music, Clarity Music, and West One Music.

After Chloe had to step down from her win, for a 12 year old little girl, she held her head high and was an absolute CLASS ACT! It hurt her and I'm sure she felt betrayed but showed more class AND professionalism than a lot of grownups I know. I still hear her little voice cracking up that she was disappointed but was happy for Maddie. I lost it and broke down seeing this happen to her. I still think she won LEGITIMATELY! Should have left it alone ABBY!🤘

In my opinion, I think that something happened with Christi and Abby before the show even started. Or maybe between season 2 and 3 even before the pink lemonade dance. Chloe was above maddie on the pyramid for most of season 2 and than she suddenly wasn’t. I think Abby knew she screwed up putting all her eggs in Maddie’s basket after season 2 nationals and just wanted to throw maddie back on top so she didn’t look bad. I personally think that Chloe is a better dancer and person and I’m glad she was able to move on after all the abuse she dealt with.

I used to respect Abby a lot, for her show I became a dancer 6 years ago and found my true passion, but not anymore. I just can’t believe the amount of abuse this woman has put this kids through, and I can’t comprehend how parents still take their kids to her. I get that the show is scripted but if you offer me money in exchange of tearing kids apart and destroying their confidence and passion, I’m not going to accept it, no matter what. It makes me sick to my stomach to hear her say those things about Chloe, Chloe was literally the sweetest girl on the team, she was always happy for her classmates, always respectful and still this woman couldn’t do anything but break her down. I’m so glad her mom got her out of that.

Need to pop in for a sec! Around 4:35, in the You Can Be Anything Defense portion, you mentioned side aerial vs front aerial and how those could be scored differently because of difficulty. I'm a competition dancer, I've been competing for five years now, and my aunt owns a studio, takes them to competitions, and competed when she was still dancing. MOST competitions don't score on choreography difficulty! They score on how the choreo is EXECUTED (so people with choreo below their level will score higher than people with choreo above their level) but NOT difficult, so people who are doing choreo that's really hard and aren't quite there yet won't be scored on "wow that's so hard" but rather "wow this is sloppy and wobbly" if that makes sense? Hope that helped clear some things up! Dance Moms has created and portrayed SO many misconceptions about competitions, haha!

@@haileyparsons3844 Hard to say. Rewatched both solos and I personally enjoyed Chloe's more, she was more fluid and in her movements while Maddie seemed rushed. Chloe's releve in her turns wasn't that great, but Maddie's last turn she was too ambitious and ended up having to turn on her heel. I honestly don't know. Chloe seemed more present in her's, so I think Chloe, but both girls did wonderfully.

You Can Be Anything was almost painfully staged, few things to note, 1) nearly all competitions now and even back then would use an online system to tally scores to deliberately stop error's like this so I have no clue why they were using paper 2) Even if there were using paper giving Chloe the extra amount of points is just so random, you can see on the paper all numbers (solos, duos, trios and groups) were scored the same so it wasn't even as if they were scoring different divisions on a different scales. So for a judge who had been probably scoring numbers all day on a scale from 0-25 for choreography, a random 27.5 is such a weird thing to happen not to mention it happen on such an important number. 3) Also, I am very sceptical of any "invitational" event put on by Lifetime, because you forget the competition is not running the event. Lifetime is, essentially they are paying the 'in10sity dance' company for a service which is to run a competition which doesn't actually exist for a TV show.

If you look on the season 3 episode 23 after the competition director came in and said here are the papers for Abby of the scores, Chloe was about to do an interview. When Chloe does her interview you can see while she is talking about how the scores were “incorrect” she was on the edge of tears.
