Don't be mean to the rickshaw's guy - MOST of the TIME; they just don't understand ENGLISH LANGUAGE well. Indonesian people are pretty decent honest people who are work so hard for a living. So next time, make sure they are understood you before calling them "SCAMMERS". Please be more understanding for a huge language barrier otherwise do yourself A BIG FAVOR by learning an Indonesian (and JAVANESE) language, so nobody "scamming" you! #thenerve !

Hi guys, we're very sorry for the incovenience. Im sure thats not a scam, its just miscommunication as the driver misunderstood between Palace and missed the water u ve mentioned. So he stopped u two near the Sultan main Palace. I think probably bcoz of your british accent, and u spoke very fast. ;") American english is very common in our country, and sometimes british accent isnt easy to be understood clearly and freshly ;). There are many varians for bakpia nowadays with chocolate, cheese, durian, etc. I think you have to try the original one that called bakpia basah. So the texture is different. It's not dry like pastry like what you eat in the video. And the original fill with mung beans. That's the real bakpia.

Be carefull with the touristy place like Yogya, just like Bangkok or HCM theres so many scam especially for transport like tuktuk becak/rickshaw etc. Looks like the rickshaw man doesnt even understand Water Palace is. Just say Taman Sari instead of Water Palace. The driver in Yogya most of them dont understand even basic english.

The driver only recognized the word "palace" which he identified with the Sultanate palace. He thought you wanted to go to the entrance or a tour surrounding it. Indonesians in general are eager to help others. Most of them are chatty and sometimes would even surprise you with intrusive questions. 😂 Foreign tourists, although plenty, are still quite rare to them. So if you're looking different, expect the locals to look at you with curios stare. Say hi to them with a simple "hello" would break the ice. Get ready for them to ask for some photos.
