That was the ABC, we all remember and now it’s gone

I wish they would shut the transmitters down these days. Half the stuff they play after midnight is trash anyway.

Ben Helweg: The ABC channels in 2018 tend to show repeat screenings (or encore screenings) of programs that were originally broadcast in prime time several hours before 12 midnight or other shows that had been broadcast at other times earlier in that week, month, year, etc.

I think that this version of national anthem is the best one as it shows the progress of Australia in these years

It feels like the nz national anthem but that’s the Australia national anthem

Ther bit at the end with the gradients of grey accompanied by a tone was a test signal that was used to calibrate television equipment. It was originally called sawtooth and tone.

It’s slightly eerie too.

It would be great if ABC3 were to start doing this.

So please correct me if I'm wrong, but only ABC did the clock intermission, and that only lasted until that year or 1986?
@brilton111 жыл бұрын
Ah, thanks. Didn't pick it a as Ted Bull. The voice doesn't seem grainy and whiny enough!

And hence, thereafter, for me the final note of our national anthem will always be: "mmmmmmmmmm..."

Test Patterns were more often used (in Australia) prior to TV stations going on-air at the start of their individual broadcast day (During the 1980’s, this was in the morning on the ABC TV channel in your state/territory OR morning (or even early afternoon in some regional areas) on Commercial TV stations.
@thewilfer4 ай бұрын
SBS TV test pattern and music was on-air nearly all day as they did not commence programs until the afternoon in the 1980’s

I’m guessing the ones watching at the time were probably mad by leaving them at the climax of the show during sign-off. What a spoiler.

Does anybody have the reading of the list of Victorian stations that used to be read out over a slide when the station opened at midday in the 70’s?
@zoomosis6 жыл бұрын
I vaguely remember this in the early '80s. The list ending with "Corryong and Khancoban". It may have been Edwin Maher?
