An extended preview from 1969 for the much missed "Movie of the Week", including some films that were subsequently re-titled when finally broadcast.

That theme song touches my heart because it brings back good memories of being a toddler, both my parents alive and healthy. Watched all of these good movies with my parents, how I miss those days. Had I known how bad life was going to get, I would have never taken those times for granted. 😥

I loved the intro song as a kid and more so as an adult!

It was my parents on the weekends. I would always fall asleep before the end. Yes it brings back such great memories. I feel the same as you great to hear the Intro again.

William Shallert was a great actor and an excellent VoiceOver guy . Remember seeing him in just about everything on TV .

Holy Mackerel, your right! It never clicked that that was him! I can totally see him getting pissed at Patty Duke or yelling at Capt. Kirk about the Tribbles.

ABC Movie Of The Week debuted on September 23rd, 1969. Cutting edge films that tackled many subjects ie displaced war Veteran, homosexuality, the Vietnam war, etc... A lot of the films were produced by Aaron Spelling. He also collaborated with Danny Thomas, and Leonard Goldberg and on his own. Also other production companies include David L. Wolper, Self Productions, Quinn Martin, Miller/Milkus, Douglas S. Cramer Productions.

This is 1969 when I was just 20 years old. Notice that almost everyone of the stars shown are old enough to be a parent or grandparent of a 20 year old. Did we baby boomers make fun of them or refuse to watch because there were "old people" playing these parts? No we didn't, we watched and "movie of the week" was a huge success back then. So different now.

My mom was born in 1970, and I'm now 25 years old. Crazy to think how KZbin brings the past to people who weren't there to experience it the first time. June 16, 2018 12:13 am

This was when television was really worth watching, and we didn't have a proliferation of cable channels clogging up the airwaves. Some things were better in the old days.

So many of us watched TV, with our parents! I remember the Movie of the Week and also the NBC Movie Mystery with the 3 rotating crime/mystery/dramas; McCloud, MacMillan and Wife and Columbo. Those were all shows that teens could/would watch WITH your parents. Was mostly older siblings and mom though, lol. Dad liked his 'spaghetti Westerns' on Sat. afternoons! ;-) The Country was a different place then, all TV was FREE. There was NO cable or streaming (obvsly) .

"THE MOVIE OF THE WEEK" [Tuesdays, 8:30pm(et)] became THE most popular show on Tuesday nights, leading to "THE MOVIE OF THE WEEKEND" (1971-'72) , which became "WEDNESDAY MOVIE OF THE WEEK" in 1972. Since this appeared on a "fall preview" special, there WERE changes before the films were broadcast- "Strangers in the Night" aired as "The Pigeon"; "The Ballad of Corporal Crocker" {an Aaron Spelling pilot for an unsold series, "CORPORAL CROCKER"} became "The Ballad of ANDY Crocker"...

...and there were TWO "Over-The-Hill Gang" movies {"The Over-The-Hill Gang Rides Again" was seen in the fall of '70)- both doubled as pilots for prospective series....

Both of them did not sell. Movie featured Pat O'Brien, Edgar Buchanan, Chill Willis, Walter Brennan. Produced by Aaron Spelling and Danny Thomas, air date was October 7th, 1969.
