I remember Carter doing a horrible job. The gas crises, the Cuban crises, the blacks rioting because the newly arriving Cubans were getting cash, free everything overly looking the blacks. I remember Carter thinking he could talk to Castro without Clinton and the WH approval. Clinton told him to go home, he was not officially involved with administration anymore. Carter was the Democrat that opened my eyes to the inept democrat party. I switched my party and voted republican from then on.

1976 was the first time my dad voted. He voted for Ford, but he didn't know who to vote for when he walked into the booth. Since then he has voted for every Republican for President without thinking twice about it. He knew Bill Clinton was corrupt even when everyone else was falling for his southern swag. But Jimmy Carter was the first and only Democrat he even considered voting for

He is such a nice and caring person. I still remember when he successfully negotiated for the American hostages to be released during his presidency. But Ronald Reagan got in the way and prevented the hostage release until he himself became the president, to take the credit. Makes you think who really cared more about the American people, and specifically the hostages and their families.

Yes I remember. The Iranians hated Carter. They made it a point to not release the hostages until Reagan was inaugurated. They didn’t want any part of Carter.
