thanks for posting this i remember watching this as a kid years after it first aired, then again when i was in my 20's on a sports channel rerun and now i'm watching it in my 30's on youtube, how's that for nostalgia LoL oh yeah, FYI, these jumps are still considered to be record holders, it seems just about everyone who attempts the 172 ft+ range always ends up getting injured.

That was crazy! One can really get a sense of the height when the camera pans out and shows the diver and the tower all the way to the water in a still shot. Mad props to all of those dudes. Half the commenters on this video wouldn't even climb that tower that high let alone jump off it!

I was just pausing the video , trying to get that shot of both the divers and the surface of the pool. It's so high it's almost not even possible to see them and the surface at the same time. This was so fing amazing looking back now it seems insane. I wonder if these guys realized how gnarly and spectacular this was. Maybe not at the time. I'm sure it was just another walk in the park at the time. Lol

I love cliff jumping. Its amazing how fast your body go down to the sea, and how your adrenaline go up! The highest that i ever jump was 20 meters. This crazy guys jump up to 50 meters! I never will jump so high! If you look down you feel dizzy. Its really amazing what they do!

ejmac11 There's no official world record for this sort of thing, so Wide World (which covered several such events) had its own criterion: to count as a successful dive, the diver must exit the water on his/her own power. Picard couldn't, so it was not a successful dive.

If I remember correctly, the first time they had this, there was some complicated bidding system planned to determine the heights, but right when the bidding started, one of the divers said that they had agreed to all dive from the same height and share the world record
