Helldivers 2's ongoing second galactic war is an ongoing story that is actively being written as time goes on. What the game often doesn't explain is the story behind Super Earth's war with the Terminids and the Automatons. This video explains the story of Helldivers 1 and the first galactic war with Helldivers pitted against the Illuminate, Cyborgs, and Bugs. By the end of the video, a complete timeline of the major events perpetrated by the Helldivers in Helldivers 2 plays out in full with maps and more.

I was thinking about delaying this video due to the news surrounding Helldivers and PSN accounts, but decided to upload the video anyway and cover the situation before the video starts. I plan on talking more about it in the near future. Be respectful to the devs at Arrowhead, in recent news it's been reported that they're doing what they can to help us out. One note: canonically the first galactic war took place in 2084, such was the second galactic war started 2184, it’s an intentional 1984 reference by the developers. Other than the dates not lining up, great video!

Thanks! I was initially confused about the dates because there aren’t a lot of concrete timelines, but the wiki states that there was a century of peace in between both wars from what I recall. This would mean that the first war would end on 2084 to allow for the second war to start in 2184. Also there is a quote from the helldivers wiki quoting the Super Earth encyclopedia page stating that “the year is 2184… for 40 years the war has raged on”, meaning the war started in the 2040’s. Appreciate the feedback though!

We were tricked, the fight is not over. I would actually say things are getting worse. The countries still can't play and 30% of our helldivers are cut off. While more who know the entire situation are still uninstalled in protest, effectively cutting our population in half. That's why we're losing every major order since then. yeah... I've been finding them a lot lately... it's... slightly disturbing? I think honestly it's probably just an error in the game's coding itself. because the bugs were the first enemies and their 'scenes' were implemented first, it stands to reason there aren't always replacement scenes for the bots and so we get these random poi's of dead bugs fighting SEAF soldiers on bot controlled worlds. I will only start worry if I find dead bots on a bug planet.

With the way the bots are now positioned on the map, it seems likely there will be a 4th enemy race to fight especially since the Illuminate are already in HD1, a new race would be HD2's addition to the IP. Now theres plenty of alien archetypes to choose from pop culture that could narrow it down. We have alien bugs(starship troopers obviously), automatons(The borg/Terminator), And the Illuminate would the the hyper-advanced technological aliens archetype (any mothership involving earth invasion movie ever, try battleship or Independence day). What other archetypes are there? Parasitic reproduction Aliens like the Xenomorphs, Infection types like The Flood and The Thing, Industrial conquerers like Destiny's Cabal, or paracausal entities like the Taken from the Destiny as well. Theres so many to choose from if they decide on a 4th race.

My favorite piece of implied lore is that the helldivers aren't even an "elite" force. The extremely short tutorial is a cake walk, and the only boot camp training a recruit undergoes. They're stored in cryo like disposable meat, and the average life expectancy of a diver in the field is two minutes.

That's what I tend to think and believe. SEAF seems to have soldiers and the capabilities to fight back, but just not the quality of Helldivers. It's also why i think only 4 helldivers are sent at a time to complete a mission only to be replaced with a new member soon after. Also, reinforcements are "approved." The missions will be over quick if all 20+ were on the field. I imagine if a Helldivers stayed long enough to live, they would realize it's just a needless meatgrinder. Super Earth would have something similar to Atriox from Halo Wars 2. Rebellion and hatred after seeing brothers die when the solution was simple but intentionally not used and accepted.

I have nothing to do with that breach, from either side, but being in infosec for a few decades has taught me that there is always more types of data stored. Sometimes it’s an accidental, or the company (not Arrowhead specifically, just in general) hasn’t figured out a way to use the data. Also, anti-cheat software operates at a very low level and they run in the kernel, so they can see/block cheating. Like a lot of things in infosec, it can be used for good or bad. They tend to not be the most secure software either and use a lot of the same techniques we use when popping a box, as they are essentially operating as rootkits.

If you listen to an automaton patrol you can hear them marching in cadence. The first line is “Heart, Steel”, and I think this is hinting that Automatons have some human body parts inside of them. If you look around fabricators you can see humans with body parts removed further strengthening this theory.

Just a quick addition, the first generation of Helldivers were first deployed on Earth to combat the last nation opposing the federation, conventional deployment methods where inneffective against them so the Hellpod and subsequently the Helldivers where formed. This is why I'd like to think that in the 1st game we play as 2nd generation Helldivers and the 2nd game we play as 3rd generation helldivers.

The fall of Vandalon IV, Ingmar, Mantes and Draupnir... all forgotten by many helldivers. Hell. no one remembers the grand last stand of Mort preventing the complete loss of that sector. but to be fair. Malevolen Creek is definitely nowhere near CLOSE to the bloodiest battle in the second Galactic war. Estanu and Hellmire each on their own have near triple the casualties of Malevolen Creek with over 100 million deaths on each planet considering the Creek had roughly 42 million dead at its liberation. With Estanu fighting like 10 different sieges in its lifetime yeah, there is definitely more blood in other places compared to the Creek.

Hey man, great vid! I just wanted to bring up that the stalkers got an update to their cloaking. This was most likely just a gameplay feature change; but it does coincide with the termaside deactivation incentive. Also it might be noteworthy to talk about the prevalence of gun ships and factory striders with the main automaton fleet invading. So if you ever update or redo this vid those could be some points to pickup on where you left off here. That and the whatever in game reason we come up with for the whole SONY debacle xD lol!

my theories for super earth: 1. after operation paperclip, the nazis cordially invited into america moved quickly to consolidate power from behind the scenes and ensure the survival of their ideology. unfortunately for them "nazis" and "fascism" werent very well liked, so instead (whether out of appreciation or simple calculation) opted to redefine american dreams into their own, making liberty synonymous with oppression by the cold war, presumably early into it, they enacted their plan. using the funds they had stolen and the personnel they had converted, the fascists cooked off the cold war as quickly as they could, beginning with the deliberate sabotage of chernobyl. with no one around to mitigate the disaster, the result was the complete destruction of the ukrainian region. this was then framed as an american attack, and bombs were dropped. all of russia, most of canada, were completely annihilated from deliberate attacks. an unfortunate incident (legitimately an accident) occurred in the united kingdom with their nuclear stockpiles, causing the entirety of the isles to be irreparably damaged america was successfully defended thanks to significant advances in technology by the exceedingly rich nazi scientists. with russia irradiated and america in a state of shock, the now public "super earth party" or whatever got to work destroying historical records, winning the hearts of survivors, and crushing dissidents in order to enact zero day (a popular nazi post war plan) and rewriting everything they can to fit their narrative. now earth is Super Earth. it forever was and forever will be. difficult to erase monuments like the pyramids were rebranded, and cleanup efforts, once again made possible by exceedingly rich nazi scientists began, but not all of Super Earth could be re-inhabited due to excessive concentrations of radioactive waste. due to the presence of a "historical resource depletion site" on the official map of Super Earth, i suspect the destruction of northern greenland to be the result of an attempted rebel uprising over the discovery of a valuable deposit of (something) on the island, which enabled these rebels to escalate the conflict to the point that Super Earth had to employ nuclear weapons once again tl;dr nazis took over america, nuked everything, became SUPER EARTH, nuked everything again to become SUPERER EARTH. britain fucking explodes 2. the "historical resource depletion site" is the initial place where E-710 was discovered. how did it get there? who cares because Super Earth is in space babey and are now colonizing the galaxy for a peaceful and profitable 50 odd years since 2030 until greenland starts running dry and now they have to start thinking about alternatives to E-710. on the other side of the galaxy, a relatively peaceful and seemingly sentient hivemind of bugs make first contact with Super Earth (where they are obviously killed instantly), and after a few examinations of the corpses, the grace of Super God delivers the origin of E-710 to them, and the ministry of truth gets to work fabricating a war story tl;dr oil found in greenland, colonizing successful, bugs found and killed. SUPER OIL FOUND! war on terminids and subsequent experimentation begins on them 3. in the outer reaches of the galaxy, the Super Earth ministry of science begins a series of cybernetic augmentations and experiments on slaves in the cyberstan system in order to improve work efficiency, leading to some very powerful rebels. first galactic war ensues, blah blah yadda yadda now we have automatons for some reason tl;dr make robot men. fail :( KABOOM robot bots make themselves :( KABOOM

Lmao i downloaded helldivers 2 right during the liberation of the creek, my first missions were the last missions on the creek. (I knew about the war efford on the creek etc. before. But inwanted to grab the game on sale but well... That was over and it turns out the game is definetly worth the full money)
