Diane was informative on World News and she's lovely to look at from a male perspective. She also speaks slowly with emphasis. This is not an attribute with a half-hour news program. When she first appeared as anchor, I thought she was great. When David Muir replaced her we ended up with twice the news. One thing stays, though. ABC can't utter the word Canada.

I can only remember as far back as the Charles Gibson and Katie Couric era of evening news reporting, around 2008-2009 when I was 8-9 years old. Sawyer in my opinion fell into the C-Tier, an OK anchor. I feel she was stronger as GMA host, and did a great job starting off ABC's 9/11 coverage with Charles until they turned it over to Peter Jennings. However, I enjoyed Brian Williams (before his incident in early 2015 that got him demoted) and Scott Pelley a lot more during this era.

I'm so disappointed ABC didn't promote George Stephanopoulos to the anchor spot.

Exactly. The chief anchor should anchor the nightly news. Otherwise, he is just a figurehead. Why just today, I sent a Facebook message to George. "Hi, George. I understand you're the chief anchor at ABC News while David Muir is anchoring World News Tonight. George, I grew up watching WNT while Peter Jennings was still hosting. That man was a leader in his industry. It seems to me that the man who runs the nightly newscast should be the chief man. George, I think you should take the reins of World News Tonight. You're the chief anchor, and so it's your responsibility. Be more than a figurehead. Take the lead. You can do it!"

She may not have been as great as Gibson or Jennings, but she was not terrible. I certainly liked her more than David Muir.
