Two cases in Arizona and New Mexico (don't remember which case is in which state) Teen inadvertently kills friend in a home. Father and teen try to cover up, placing blame on friend. Father charged in the coverup and allowing son access to a firearm. Father would have been charged anyway if the friend was the one who accessed the gun. The other, parent charged for allowing son to access gun used in a street shooting. California has the same law as Michigan. First incident happened around an hour after it went into effect when a child playing with a gun killed himself. Relative charged with negligence.

Get what your saying. When my kids were little think 6th and 5th grade I had to work and was single parent. When I came home my neighbor who lived behind me told some one egged his front door and then tried to clean it off with a papertowel. I recognized the papertowl cause it has ducks. Told him I would go get my kids and make them clean but he wanted to the police and press charges. I realize this is way different but didn't want to hire a attorney for that. They never did it again.

Opponents of abortion honestly believe it's murder of a person with rights. Given that, it can't be treated as a purely private matter. Whether you agree with them or not, the question has to be resolved democratically by a legislature.

I wonder why I don't see anyone suggesting that the AZ legislature repeal the law. Wouldn't that be more democratic than the governor nullifying the law unilaterally by handing out pardons to everyone charged?

@@bethlyons6395 This is a surprisingly anti-democratic idea. You seem not to believe in the separation of powers between the executive and legislative branches of government. Consider, for example, if a Democrat-majority Congress were to pass a law banning assault rifles and it were to be signed into law by a Democrat president. Then, a Republican president is elected, while congress remains Democrat-majority. He can't get the law repealed, so he nullifies it by issuing automatic pardons to anyone charged on possession of an assault rifle. Would you be OK with that?
