California cops love making their chases a movie of the week. Arkansas ends their chases in about a block and a half. While that is excessive, you'd think Cali could be somewhere in between. Other states get the vehicle stopped and get the bad guys out of the car single handedly in many cases. California, "Calling every cop in the state,we need a thousand man stand off for four hours "

What a joke. Having been a Traffic Patrol Officer for a number of years as an Advance Driver with the London Met Police. They should be putting the suspect under pressure not allowing him to dictate the process. The object is to stop a pursuit ASAP. In the UK we have a procedure that the lead driver is the one to take the decisions. We have a procedure called TPAC (Tactical Pursuit And Containment) using 3 vehicles, One in front, one on the off-side and one in the rear boxing the vehicle in and then reducing speed until the suspect vehicle is brought to a stop. Always we try to put our vehicle nearside wing against the driver door stopping the driver getting out of the vehicle.
@joanies677811 ай бұрын
If they believe the suspect is armed, that scenario is less likely. I just watched another chase where the driver kept shooting at police in a high-speed chase. This would be an easier shot... I agree that played a huge role in their decisions.

Which of those Arkansas cowboys should they be copying, exactly? The one that recently pitted a random bystander’s car on the basis of it being a white sedan in the general area of the car they were after? The one behind the recent settlement with the pregnant woman they pitted and injured for not pulling over fast enough?
@chadmargraf4020 Жыл бұрын
Pitting a suspect into pedestrians is not an option. These officers have to take the public into consideration. Besides, anyone running from the police is by default not in the right state of mind, and could injure the public if they get pressured. Police have seen every situation in the past, and they have to make sure that they dont escalate any more than they have to. I would love to see improvements on the aggressiveness, but they ha e to be smart about it. Highways could be rigged with red and blue flashers whenever pursuits transition to them for example, that way motorists will know there is danger amongst tgem, so then they will condense themselves to one side, i would love to see that. Retrofitting cruisers with bumper grapplers and bumper spike strips are another wish
