Actually the horse was in pain and exhausted because he did not properly put the ropes/saddle on and the hooves against the pavement so it didn't have the energy to freak out. And if you look carefully he was bouncing pretty hard on the horse which from what I read had also severely injured the back. But unfortunately I saw what is believed to be his social media accounts and somehow he managed to get new horses.

This is incredibly dangerous!! There was a horse that got out of a pasture where I lived and the person hit the horse and died! Horses weigh up to 1200-2,000 lbs or more depending on the breed. And the fact that he is running the horse like that with traffic is absolutely abusive to the horse. I am all for seeing horses on side roads and am happy to move over, i owned a horse for 5 years and have ridden on and off again since I was 12 but a freeway is no place for a horse

The horse is named NuNu and this idiot galloped her for approximately 7 miles on concrete despite her not having any shoes. She suffered injuries to her hooves and was in so much pain after this incident that she couldn't bare standing for long periods of time and kept laying down. The man was charged with animal cruelty as he should've been.

Believe me it would have been much worse had she had metal or iron shoes on. Metal shoes only amplifies the concussion and reverberates up the poor horse's leg. An unshod horse or one with a rubber boot or shoe would have done much better than with iron shoes. That being said, this guy does not have the welfare of his horse in mind. The horse was named Nu Nu, like the cat saved in the tsunami. He damaged her joints out of lack of knowledge for the horse. The horse has gone to a sanctuary and is living a great life in retirement and being well spoilt. Her new name is AMAZING GRACE.

She was such a good horse that she didn't freak out at all the noise around her and followed the commands of her rider even if she was in an incredible amount of pain from running on the pavement for that long. You can see the way she hesitates at the end when he's trying to urge her on again. But she listens and obeys despite the pain. People like him don't deserve good horses like that.

Good news to those who are worried for Nunu's (the horse) health. So running on the pavement for so long did unfortunately cause a lot of damage to her, horses cannot run on pavement for long periods of time without getting injured. They weren't sure if she'd make it, but she is recovering well now and is being held at a recovery ranch so she can be loved and run around in the soft grass instead of hot pavement

As a vet tech I can tell you by his horse’s walking demeanor that he injured one of it back legs. Horses aren’t made for running on pavement at high speeds over a prolonged distance. This was such a careless stunt.

Updated story on NuNu (the horse): After this incident she was taken to a horse sanctuary. She was in critical condition- cold, clammy, and couldn’t stand. She needed 24 hour care for weeks. Now she is doing much better! She can stand now and is moving around well. She may never be ridden again, but she’s happy to just walk next to people.

Damaging the hooves by cantoring on pavement or other hard surfaces can cause road founder. It's a very serious condition for any horse and most horse owners never want to have it occur to their horse. The outcome can be life threatening and at the least a horse that can no longer perform as before.

@@jiggnorth3593 the issue? in addition to being ridden by someone that doesn't know how to ride, that is impacting hard the horse's spine with every stride the horse takes, that is also hard on the bit, there is impact to the knees running on pavement, breathing car exhaust/fumes, danger/risk/fear of the horse being hit by a car; the horse is in big fear here (look at the lifted tail which signals alarm, and the ears); the horse is really stressed, and for good reason. Those with understanding of horses would call that abuse.

I am not 100% sure but I think that they make horseshoes for riding on concrete or asphalt. Probably still not healthy for the horse but I sure hope he has them on. If the horse got to the point it couldn't take it anymore it is way more of a body mass than the human riding and definitely has the ability to throw him off. This horse has no idea of what's happening but is a good enough animal that they obeyed their rider despite their fears. My husband and I owned horses for years, how many have you owned? Running a horse on a hard surface has the potential of permanently making them lame, then they have to be put down. The motorcycles did not help that horse at all and the owner deserves to be punished for animal cruelty. If you check the horses feet were bleeding by the time they got him stopped, it was in bad shape according to news stories. Know what you are talking about before you call someone a name.

Just so it's clear, while riding a horse on a street is legal, riding a horse on a limited access roadway is not. The Dan Ryan Expressway is a limited access roadway. The Chicago Police does have an equestrian unit and they love their horses. The cops did NOT beat this horse! The rider is abusing that animal by riding it so hard on HOT PAVEMENT! He is well known but usually takes care of his horse. Why he's doing this I couldn't say, but there has to be a better way. Those motorcyclists are definitely friends of the Dreadlock Cowboy. @@muhfkajones go see the video from when they arrested the guy. the horse couldnt stand straight anymore. the lower joints of the back legs are extremely low/ tendons streched out. Horse is breathing way to heavy. Also you can see how hard he drops on the horses back. There is a reason horse riding lessons exist, and this disaster is it!

She had life threatening injuries to to her back legs and wounds where the saddle was. The longest a horse has ever been ran was alittle over a mile and for races only. Chicago police said the horse appeared to be exhausted and overheated, and was shaking before it collapsed and was unable to get up without assistance. She needs 24\7 vet care to make sure she gets up every hour cause shes in so much pain she has to lay down (horses only sleep 2 hours a day and sometimes they lay down for 15-20 mins tops. Its bad for them to lay down for hours on end) He damn near killed that horse and people fucking acutally made a gofundme ($40,000+ raised so far) for him to start a ranch for kids to ride horses. Cannot make this shit up he needs to be banned from ever owning another animal agian. Edit: The owner is the one who made the gofund me and that asshole made over $88, 000 www.gofundme.com/f/dreadhead People have lost their fucking minds to even consider donating for this man to abuse and do more harm to more animals. He still thinks he did not do a damn think wrong with this horse and said he loved her and would never put it in any danger.

I’m a horseback rider and I can tell that the horse is very fatigued from the beginning and I’m pain. The bouncing on the saddle can cause many back problems for the horse, the cantering on the pavement will hurt the horses hooves without proper equipment and even so that guy wouldn’t let the horse have long enough breaks he should’ve pulled over instead of the horse being more in pain

This man got charged with Animal cruelty, the horse was running on the street without horse shoes which is terrible for the horse. The horses legs were bleeding and the horse was running till absolute exhaustion. The horse may need to be put down and has suffered permanent damage from this ride.
