I was a bank teller for three years. If you're getting a Cashier's check or Money Order to deposit into your "other" account, it needs to say "Pay to the Order of YOUR NAME" on it. Never Ever have it in someone or some institutions name unless you're buying a car or actually paying someone else the funds. That is the fatal flaw here as the man found out. The teller that drew up the check should have asked him what he was going to do with it. If he said deposit it in his BofA account, it would absolutely be made out to him, not BofA. Please make a note of it.

He could have tracked the status of that deposit in about 2 minutes had he been so inclined or had one of his tellers do it. The manager's behavior was unprofessional and completely unacceptable. He would have been relieved of his job asap had I been his boss. With all of those branches closing, it would have taken less that 24 hours to replace him with one of those branch managers. Several days later they eventually claimed the check might be lost at some Nevada check processing facility. The check did finally get processed 2 weeks later. After receiving the good news that the check was finally processed, I went back to the BofA branch to discuss the issue and demand an explanation why they called me a liar. Their branch supervisor and branch manager refused to meet with me. That's when I closed all my accounts and switched to another bank.

In other words, the manager should say, "I'm sorry, but I can't help you with this. But my boss can help you with this. I'll ask them to come here to help you." I had a bad experience With BOA back in 79-80. I was stationed at Camp Pendleton and had a checking account with BOA. I had been with them about 1 1/2 years bringing my pay check in for deposit every two weeks. One day in the mail I get a letter saying my account was closed and a check for close to $170 which was my balance. I don't understand why my account was closed so I go in to the branch I always used and handed the teller my deposit book and ask her to tell me the status of my account. She takes it and goes to look it up and comes back and says it's closed. I ask her can you tell me why and she says "because it was over drawn for more than 30 days. I ask her to look at the deposit book and explain to me how I could be over drawn for more than 30 days when I am in there every two weeks depositing my pay check and I was sent a check for $170 the balance in my account when it was closed for being over drawn. A manager stops to see what is going on and the very confused teller fills her in. The manager comes back after looking up my account again and says that what happened was the person that normally recorded debits and deposit records was off sick one day another person did the job and one used check marks to show the account was over drawn the person used check marks to show it was good. So, my account was closed by mistake and my balance returned to me. I had 4 or 5 checks I had written that had not come in to the bank yet but when they do at that time would be returned to whoever I had written them to as refused because the account was closed making it look like I was writing checks on a closed account. back then California would put you in jail. for that. So, the manager asks me what I wanted her to do about it. I said that I wanted my account reopened my balance redeposited and if any of the checks had gotten refused to because of my account being closed by no fault of mine but by bank error a letter from the bank saying it was a bank error and not mine. She could not understand why I would want my account reopened. I told her so that I would not look like a criminal writing bad checks on a closed account to several other businesses. After this got cleared up, I left BOA never to return.

Sometimes there are limits as to how much you can transfer $$ from one account to another. I'm guessing $33,000 was TOO much in one transaction, therefore a cashier check.
@andrewgrant29482 жыл бұрын
Yeah no chance of ach transfer for this amount. Wire transfer, cash, or cashiers check
@myahill74752 жыл бұрын
I think he wanted to physically do it since it was a large amount of money 💰
@lynfl98142 жыл бұрын
Yeah right, what about all the people who bank on line? They make deposits with their phone by taking pictures. What happens when your technology malfunctions and you have no hard evidence of a transaction (a paper receipt); then how do you prove you made a transaction? Fortunately, this guy made this transaction in person and got receipts.
@neuroticnation1442 жыл бұрын
@Lyn FL When you deposit by mobile device, you still have the physical check as evidence. Always keep the check at least until it clears.
@hOtneO2 жыл бұрын
Even if the branch closes where the deposit was made, once it is in the system, the whole network has that record that his account has the balance with the new deposit. BoA is so shady and if they knew they were going to close that day, then why even accept any new transaction or even open the lobby? He should sue the heck out of BoA.

I'm so glad that this video wrapped up letting the viewers know that this man got his money. When you go to a person with authority, you have a better chance of having this wrong put right. I had a similar situation, no one would help me. They told me they would look into it, they never did. Finally, I contacted my congressman. BOOM Resolved 2 days later.

This is an absurd story. There is a record at the bank the check was drawn on. At no time was this guy really in danger of losing his money. But he got some really bad customer service here.
@1D10CRACY2 жыл бұрын
So Wells Fargo made the cashiers check out to "Bank of America" instead of this guys name. And this guy either didn't notice or thought this was normal and took it to Bank of America to be cashed. Then the Teller there didn't say anything and tried to put it into this guys account? There were three different sets of eyes on this and nobody noticed the error?

Just reading the title made me scared and I said a little mental prayer for this man and also for our banks, starting with the bank whose branch closed . Thankyou 7 on your side. I read that you helped get this man's money back to him. That's👍good. Can I relax a little now ? That's enough to make a grown man cry.

I stopped dealing with Bank of America years ago I and my daughter had separate bank accounts at Bank of America we did share the same address they took money out of my account and put it in her account because she had insufficient funds I went to the bank to find out why there is many missing they told me and I told them that was stealing and even the manager told me there was nothing they could do I never got my money back but I never did business with them again and I tell everyone to stay clear at that bank they'll rip you off
@patriciaglover97402 жыл бұрын
The same happened to my direct deposit account at another large bank. The branch took the money and placed it in an unknown account under an address several years old and said the money was lost. Sorry about that, friend. It took calls to national customer service and three visits to the branch but I got my money back. Then it became clear to me that the best solution was to simply close all accounts.
@griselgriselda29012 жыл бұрын
@@patriciaglover9740 Yeah that’s not right. It’s like handing off your child to a daycare and them saying, “We own them now.” Like, that’s so sinister, especially when even proof won’t suffice them. Talk about playing a dangerous game, when you’re in the right only for them to turn around and say you’re left. Nah bruh, that’s not fair. Don’t be playing with our money like that.

Wow! Two BOA banks in Westchester Ca closed. It was scary! When a person is trying to make a deposit into their own account or if they are making a deposit for someone else, the check has to be payable to the “account owner”, and not the bank. Checks payable to the bank or credit union are used only if you are making a payment to the institution (ex. A credit card payment, loan payment, lease, safe deposit box payment, etc)

try a search for how many branches closed in 2021... if 2 scared you, the result will give you a stroke

They aren't going out of business they're just transitioning to more online banking like most other banks. Ally bank has been doing this for years. It has no physical branches. Even if they did go out of business your accounts are protected by FDIC insurance and you would be given notice of closure. It's federal law.
@delphvine892 жыл бұрын
That's why years ago, the tellers kept saying use the ATM to deposit checks or cash into your account...that was like what 2009? I knew that they would be transitioning into the ATM and online banking. Back then, I found it very weird to have paper with instructions from a teller lol. Forward to 2016 that bank was closed, yet the bank ATM stayed. So yeah, no scary at all. BOA can close for what I care lol. I don't trust that bank.

Yep! They, as well as other large banking institutions are run by the Federal Reserve.

I had problems (very mild) at a PNC bank. The teller was a teenager, and my associate finally said to me: "Um..... she is confused...." So we had to simplify our transaction, and do the rest online. And I trust PNC Bank, because they are normally very smart, and helpful.

If they won't fix it go to the District Attorney, request a grand jury, explain your case and the DA will threaten arrest if not corrected immediately.

That happened to me. 3 BofA branches closed in my area in last 2 months. BofA and Wells Fargo are collapsing due to stock market and bankruptcy in 12 months. Move your money into credit union.

B of A and Wells Fargo are the 2 worst banks on the planet. Plenty of criminal undertakings with both. Why people continue to do business with these cons is beyond me.

The mattress isn't safe. The far left is devaluing money so we go into complete cashless society they control.

Aside from risks of fire & burglary (or home invasion, these days), the problem with keeping money under your mattress is inflation erodes its purchasing power as time passes.

LEAVE B OF A. Bank at a credit union. They are generally Covid averse! AND they will always inform you of any branch closure/change of operations in plenty of time.
@pwp87372 жыл бұрын
perhaps he should have used social media to start a bank run. Once millions of BoA customers start pulling their deposits, the FDIC would rain down hard on the idiots who work at this bank to restore confidence.

You forget about the bail in legislation protecting the banks and allowing them to keep your money, all of your money. All western countries have this legislation in place now. The bank can stop the withdrawals and have full backing of the US government.
