I don't think it's fair, however, to assume that Judge Salas believes that our lives aren't as important as her life, nor her colleagues' lives. Everyone deserves privacy and it is way too easy for someone with nefarious intentions to find the location of their target and that of their family. Like the other commenter noted, the judge, as well as other judges, are at greater risk of being hunted down due to the nature of their jobs; when a judge issues a ruling that incites an angry and violent person, the judge is in greater danger, statistically, of his or her life than I am. I share your position that we all should be protected from having our information so readily available on the internet, but I don't believe that this judge thinks that her life is more valuable than yours or mine. The only reason that her son is dead and her husband is severely injured is directly related to her job. Peace to you and yours.

Give her some time. My mother was complaining about this issue since the late 90s... I complain about it now... Everybody thought she was crazy and making a big deal out of nothing... Still, even with this tragedy people will still argue for things to stay the same. A lot of people are comfortable having all of their information out there... There are plenty of everyday citizens who won't want things to change. But, I think it should be easier to opt out of being listed. Perhaps it should be like it used to be with the phone book/ white pages. Or a central opt out database for personal information created by the government that prevents sites that list personal information from listing information of people who opt out.

Nah. She's still in shock. When my mom died of cancer I had memory loss for 3 weeks and I remember only crying a few times. The first few weeks are okay because you busy yourself with things like the funeral and the outpouring of love IS there in the beggining. But after a month or so people stop calling as often and the finality of it all really hits you. I can't imagine losing a child. This woman has many years ahead of her until she feels okay.

He killed another [attorney] before getting to Salas, he had a list of 12 people on him when he killed himself, 3 of those were other judges." I'd read this in the news soon after the shooting.

discorperted Someone murdered her son, as of the video, her husband is still alive. Regardless, how is making a video going to send her to hell? I personally would not do a video myself and I have experience unfortunately as my parents were taken at the hands of their own son not that long ago. So for me, my family avoided speaking to the press, I couldn’t imagine speaking on the news publicly, it’s not for me. That being said, she is a Judge, someone was sending a message by going after her so perhaps she’s sending a message as well. In my observation, she’s likely in shock or something like it, that’s how I felt myself, it’s still hard to wrap my head around what happened in my situation so I consider that but something does seem off to me, but it’s a terrible situation and everyone reactions differently.
