According tho New York City's Noise Code, sound is too loud if it can be heard: From 150 feet or more from a vehicle weighing less than 10,000 pounds From 200 feet or more from a vehicle weighing more than 10,000 pounds From 200 feet from a motorcycle I would argue that the camera, which captured the video and audio of the Lambo, isnt mounted 150ft away. In addition, the soumd lasted less than 1 second, the car passed NYS inspection, and isn't modified. This is a winnable case and should be dismissed, if the judge is honest.

If the State of New York licenses the vehicle, then it MUST accept how it's designed and built including the decibile level of the car. NY accepted the sales tax on the sale, the registration fees for the car and allowed it to be registered and owned in the State of NY. Therefore, they can't fine the owner for noise level if it's legally allowed to be registered and licensed to drive on the roads of NY as it was designed from the factory. It's not a "track only" vehicle. Therefore, the fine is unjustified.

So watching the video the city used to warrant a ticket, the guy clearly revved the engine. I've been around lambos and just driving them normally they aren't that loud until you rev them up. Did you hear that popping noise just after the rev? that's unburned gas exploding as it's makes it's way through the exhaust and that's likely what tripped the sound sensor as it's way louder by 50 time then normal driving levels.

Just because a vehicle is street legal does not mean it can be driven anywhere or anytime the owner chooses. There are many roads that have restrictions on they type of vehicles that can be driven on them. Places where tractor trailers are prohibited, bridges/tunnels/underpasses that ban tall vans and box trucks, residential neighborhoods that ban loud vehicles of all types during the night, steep downgrades that ban heavy vehicles, roads that ban towing trailers, NY has toll road that ban trucks and that ban technically includes all vehicles registered in the truck category including pickups and SUV's, roads that prohibit motorcycles, etc. If you wish to own a specific vehicle that may be subject to restrictions there is nothing stopping you but you must adhere to those restrictions. His car is very loud and that makes it prohibited in many areas especially residential at night. He can't drive in places with speed bumps/humps either. I'm sure his car comes from the factor able to do over 100mph but just because it is allowed to be sold as such does not mean it will be legal to do so everywhere. Last the vehicle has an exhaust specifically designed to make a lot of noise. He's lying when he said it could not be replaced with actual mufflers which would quiet the car down and make it legal to drive in the city, he clearly has the money to so he just doesn't want to. Quit being a winney baby complaining about an $800 ticket, you have $300,000 car, you likely spend more than that on an oil change. Big picture here, if he wins expect not just awesome sounding, if loud, cars to be permitted in you neighborhoods at night. But also prepare for hundreds of kids with cars fitted with, then unrestricted, deafeningly loud awful sounding kit exhausts roaring down your street all day and every night as well. Be he lives somewhere were he doesn't have to listen to loud vehicles like his all night long.
